1848 penny overstrike?
RICHARD replied to RICHARD's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Here is the reverse E/E.? -
Gentlemen can anyone shed a little light on my 1848 penny. I have this up for sale on E. Bay with more items in a general clear out sale, not happy with my original photos I decided to take more and my attention was drawn to the date where there seems to be an overstrike over the 8. Not having the benefit of Freemans and other such publications I was wondering if you have any comments and views. This is the best image I can get. Thanks Richard

VICTORIA GOTHIC GOLD COIN/TOKEN ?

Thank you John. I have no interest in buying it, it was shown to me by a customer of mine who knew I had an interest in coins and thought I could ID it for him. RR -
VICTORIA GOTHIC GOLD COIN/TOKEN ?
RICHARD replied to RICHARD's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
No, I have seen these on E. Bay and I am sure that it is not the same, unfortunatly the coin is not in my hand and the size of that of an old halfpenny was a bit of a guess, it is thinner and smaller and I have been told it has hall marks around the rim. RR -
VICTORIA GOTHIC GOLD COIN/TOKEN ?
RICHARD posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Can any one help me with this coin/token in the style of a Victorian gothic 1847 crown. it weighs 7 grams appears to be solid gold and is the size of a pre decimal halfpenny or a bit smaller. Thanks RR -
Can any one help me with this early hammered piece? found by a metal detectorist friend in Hertfordshire. Crown on the obverse. cross on the reverse. looks continental to me. a little smaller than a standard hammered silver penny. Cheers RR

Thanks Guys. I did.nt actually buy it, it was shown to me by a lady who knew that I was into coins. I did say to her it may not be the real thing as nothing about it ran true, would agree it could have been cast although it is really thin for a casting about same gauge as that of a standard hammered penny. Again many thanks.

And the obverse

Hello All. Can any of you help me identify this coin, it is less than half an inch across and looks as if it has been clipped as the rim is very smooth. Thanks.

Just bought this penny on E.Bay as a buy it now for 33.00 pounds. Not sure the dealer had spotted it was a low tide. Is there any signifigance in the number of beads below the date as I now have three of these coins and they have between 11 and 12. Thanks Richard

Not to well up on which class it may be, hope the pic of the obverse helps.
