  1. Hi I have this King GV Penny KN 1918. I noticed on the date side you can almost see the out line of the head. Could this be a minting error or is it just ware??? It looks like a halo going around Britannia. I might be making a complete fool of myself but if this is well known please let me know. I have tried folloeing the outline with my nail from the other side and it does seem a similar shape.. Thanks Russ777 Will also upload heads side so you can see the condition of other side
  2. So as it is common I guess there is no premium. Would anynone pay more than £1 for it? Does anyone study this in their collection?? Thanks Russ777
  3. Hi I have still in case a Queen Elizabeth Queen mother Crown I realise this is a crown but on reverse it says FIVE POUNDS. Am I correct this is legal tender for five pounds and banks will take it?? I realise that shops may not. Regards Russ777
  4. Yes a proof Cupro Nickel coin weight 28.28g siameter 38.61mm issued by Royal mint in special box with information about the life og QE the Queen mother. Issued by Royal MINT Collector's club Cardiff 1990. Other part of the outer box has picture of the Queen Mother as child. I cannot see any with nice boxes like this for sale on Ebay issued by Royal Mint for Collectors club so how much is it worth guys? Anyone interested in buying drop me a line. The outer box lips are starting to open but otherwise very nice... Russ777
  5. Hi I know this is a common topic. There seem to be a lot of threads on scrapping silver. Can I sell old brass 3ds and old copper pennies from QV-QEII (large size ones). I have a load of pennies I do not want can I sell them for scrap copper?? What can I expect for 100g/Kg of each or are the QV/large QEII pennies different content. I have picked up loads from auctions and they are just taking up space. Thanks Russ777

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

20p undated coin rare trusted ebayer in great conition EBAY YES SPELT LIKE THAT! Hi why is this undated 20p getting two bids price currently £4100 when all the others sell for around £60??? Comments please. Could it be the ultra nice condtion or shill bidding (two bidders with very low feedbacks...) Don't know why anyone would bother listing at start price 4k when so many others on the market for 50 quid. Another Ebay laugh??? Thanks Russ7777
  7. Hi just got this one in my change today. 2005 one pound coin with a large lip of metal over T of Elizabeth. Would be interested to know how this may have happened have not seen this one before. Would anyone be interested in making an offer? Thanks Russ777
  8. How much might this be worth?? Thanks Russ777
  9. Very interesting. Something that may prove this is that on Ebay there is the same type/date £1 coin 2005! with an error so I am watching that one, also a semi circle type error this time with a chunk of metal missing on bridge side. So I am watching how high that one goes! Perhaps these should be recorded in catalogues?? What do people think?? Russ777
  10. I have 5 silver Two Anna India coins 1898 that are in EF condition but have been turned into a brooch (soldered together). I believe there some varieties of this coin incuse? How can I tell if I have that or any other type??? I would be interested to know silver value etc. Anyway would be interested to know whether it is worth getting unsoldered. Thanks Russ777
  11. OK that's a fair point. Unfortunately I have no idea of why someone might have done this accept to make a pretty little brooch. On the other hand it does look rather like a four leaf clover so whether any India/Ireland connection??? It was purchased in an antiques centre and no more information available. So does this mean this does not appeal to a coin collector??? Regards Russ777 Myself, I wouldn't rush to separate them until I knew what the significance of the configuration is and who did it and why, what is it's provenance ? It's probably nothing, but what if it was done by Kipling's son for example? Do you know ? Need to know what it is and where it's from before you can make any decisions to break it up IMO. SOMEONE went to the trouble of doing that, for SOME reason.
  12. Hi I am confused I thought it was illegal to sell coins of the realm for scrap. From which years is it legal or illegal??? Which ones is it legal to sell for scrap in this country??? Ditto I have loads of 1967 Regards Russ777

  20. Just to let you know I wrote to the mint some time ago about my Shield 20p with a '1' it looks like there could be something in it being a die number as the Royal Mint museum recently asked me to send it for analysis. I also have one which appears a different colour 'pink tinge' I think I mentioned some time ago where a finishing process may be missing I have sent that one. Unfortunately I sold the possible Die '1' if anyone has one I think the museum would be very interested to analyse. Or indeed if you are the one I sold it to I can forward a contact address if you contact me here. I may regret having sold the '1' as I think it may be rarer than the mule if it is indeed a die number and not a flaw... I notice you sometimes get a flaw around the MD. I think someone else was offered £50 for a '1' sometime ago. There seems very few knocking around... I will let you know the findings as regards the metal finishing one as soon as I get the letter. I think the '1' is more interesting to the museum if we could solve that one! If the exact metal finishing error is confirmed with a letter from the mint museum would that bestow quite a mark up on value??? As I know finishing errors do not appeal to all collectors.. I was accused of tampering with it buy someone on Ebay when trying to sell, but that is impossible it came in a sealed bag of uncirculated coins and teh only one with the 'pink tinge' Regards Russ777
  21. Hi I have to admit it was me who reported the '1' to the mint. Someone verbally said it had something to do with being the first batch of coins produced but I never got anything firm in writing which I was waiting. I don't think I sold the '1' to you Chris another chap offered one for £50.00 I believe on this site I sold you the mule... I then offered a different one on here but the member was convinced mine was just a die crack. But maybe it is a worn die??? I have seen others without such a prominent '1' in the same position next to MD could it be the die crack appeared around the one once the mould got worn so the 1 would no longer look prominent? Nothing was ever received in writing, they said my query was lost in the filing!!! about 7 months ago!! I have also sent them one without the prominent '1' more of a line in the same position so maybe they will clear this up if it was a 1 that has become distorted.. Lets hope my returned coins and reply are returned safely... Russ777
  22. Hi thought I would share this one found in my change today. Looks like the '4' stamped on the Queens Head has been there sometime as not shiny. Surely not a meant error? Just thinking why someone would bother to do this on a low value coin? Maybe testing their machine??? Thought it would be a laugh to post anyway!!! Russ777
  23. Do you know what these stampings were for??? When you found them were the coins mint??/ Any value at all?? Interesting none the less... Accidentally posted twice please remove other one moderator! Russ777
  24. Thanks for your informative reply Rob I think this is simply a mark from the degeneration of the metal, thanks for setting straight mt wishful thinking! i It was worth posting just to learn a bit more about GB bronze pennies Regards Russ777
