  1. Hi can anyone tell me if any of the 1870 GB pennies have been recorded with those little die numbers underneath. It is very worn but I think I can see a faint 5 when held in a good light. Probably just imagining things... I will not post pic as it is hard to discern unless you hold to light with magnifier as is worn. Does feasibly suck a coin exist or is it an impossibility... May only have got lucky as a sctached coin.. If it is a possibility I may take to an expert. Thanks Russ777

2008 shield 20p with '1' or flaw for sale

Hi Its the near the MD it is not as clear as some of the 1s I have seen. But may be a worn strike or metal spill I have an even clearer pic but the resolution is too high for here. If you send you email if you are interested I can send the web cam pics Regards Russ
  5. Is this the 2008 shield coin with the '1', it is in same position? I am offering in for sale section Cheers Russ777
  6. I was looking through some of my old GB Pennies and although this 1885 one was worn I noticed something quite unusual on the Head side. If I am not mistaken there is excess metal or a die flaw just above the head near the letters IT of BRITT in the inscription. Strangely if you turn it sideways it looks like a large number 2. It is definitely not a gouge as I have run my finger over it. Can anyone shed any light on what this is and is it of interest to collectors?? I have never seen one before but maybe I have not seen enough of these coins.. Please take a look and let me know your opinion, does it increase value from pennies to pounds??? Thanks Russ
  7. Heres a sideways view which shows how the raised metal touches the first T of BRITT
  8. For sale nice silver Sceat Anglo Saxon coin, offers please? I am not sure of the exact variety so a collector may gain. If you do know exactly the variety please drop a line... Want to avoid using feebay if I can so make sensible offers

    Anglo Saxon Porcupine type coin

Not trying to blow my own trumpet but coin is better in 'real life' very clear both sides... The coin is some form of Spink 787 vf I believe tthey do have a couple of varieties I cannot find this exact one... Price for anyone here £70.00! I think these normally price up at around £95 so a good deal. Item now sold on the Bay
  10. Hi just wondering whether this small flaw could be pre production? There seems to be some overhang of metal to the top making a large gap above dots. Whereas dots near bottom are near touching rim Thoughts please? Could it be a pressing error at the mint? Not exactly spectacular but still interesting I suppose... Russ777
  11. Hi has anyone got the catalogue value of Bridgwater Armes Farthing 1666 copper tokens varieties W48 W49 one has flags the other doesn't? Thanks Russ777

  19. Have reposted this as I think in slightly the wrong section Just found this one in my change Is a 2004 20p with the second 0 of 2004 almost totally filled in with the same metal as the coin. Has this particular flaw been recorded here before? Interested to know if it might be of some value to a collector of decimal coinage..
  20. Am I correct than sixpences prior to 1946 are silver? I have a 1941 and 1942 pence they are both the same weight 2.8g The odd thing is that the 1941 is noticeably thinner and different tone to it. My question is were other metals used in the war period the 1942 one is almost double in thickness yet weighs the same.. Thoughts please. Could I have a 1941 fake or mixed metal coin because the war was on?? Russ777
  21. Problem solved thanks to some help it is a Indian State of Gwalior 1/4 Anna 1900 in date.
  22. Any ideas on this coin please? Looks indian??
  23. Heres another pic of the heads side: Russ777
  24. Yes fairly interesting I got my wires crossed earlier. The 1942 one is the thin 6d. The thinner one you can see on the scan is the 1942 one. Are all 1942 6ds the same though maybe I have found something of interest for all the 1942 coins or should they all be the same thickness as 1941 and others??? Is it just a case of wear on the rim??? Thoughts please. I would have thought it would take considerably more wear on the design to get down that far???? Russ777
  25. Not quite. Before 1947 they are silver (50%). So both yours should be silver. There was no other metal used except silver alloy, even during the war. You may have a fake, but the best thing is if you could scan it and upload pictures of it for us to see? (To be half the thickness but the same weight, it would have to be lead I would have thought!) When I say half maybe an over guesstimation but certainly a great deal thinner will up load pics in a couple minutes!
