We used to go hunting slow worms and adders. Best place to find slow worms are under stones near to whin bushes and on hills. I had a pet one for a few months 'til my brother let it go. Adders my sister got bitten by one when she stood on it playing hiding seek, they aint highly venomous. I used to love looking at them. I have NEVER seen a grass snake!!

My 2005 book is mostly sellotape now..... but the wife just bought me 2006 from Santa, and she was also robbed when she bought me 2 sovereigns, 1902 & 1903 she paid £340 for them (joint bank account... she never learns!!) so i had a look for them and found them (as i said she never learns)..... Guess what will be getting returned on the 28th?? Thing that gets me most is that i have bought hundreds of pounds worth from this guy..... no more, he obviously didnt know my wife. He must have seen her coming!! JR
  7. Ello again. I have acquired a 1902 penny which does not look quite correct. It is highly shiny and lighter than a full lustre penny. I will try to get a decent pic of it but thats not easy as it is reflective, i have a total of 48 1902's including 4 low tides and this is really puzzling me.... it has a few edge knocks...... all details are clear and if it had the full "normal" lustre i would grade a good EF as not much wear at all (well edge knocks) Can this be a proof?? It doesnt look to me like it has been polished. no scratches are evident. Im Confused james Will do a pic tomorrow

    1988 pound coin

I was not really interested in the decimal stuff, but as my daughter took an interest in coins i got her collecting them. She is doing great for a 9 year old and has a few rarer issues. Problem is she wants to do the pre decimal coins as well, which i know will start to cost me a lot so i think i will start her on pennies! looking at her coins she has nearly all of the 5p and only needs 2p and £1.00 for 2005 to complete the year. Not bad for going thorugh my bottle bank!! she does a great job when she is at collectors fairs, gets stuff cheaper all the time. Jim

  14. I have another worn die too a 1868 i think (at work just now), Second 8 on it looks like a B, think i need to upgrade my eye piece to the one with the light and 10x mag. on six at the mo'. I have noticed so many variations on the farthings especially, im finding it hard to note them all. Does anyone have any good recording programmes for coins?? I am beginning to wonder why i started going through this lot now!! i have every year of farthings now from 1806 ( i think) bought some from Cooke coins as well and got great quality from there. I will buy more from him as service was good. Any VF or fair coins i am upgrading. ....... also why does Spink not record the 1882?? Cheers folks for all your help and comments
  15. Its me again. Have a new issue with a farthing here, the 1839 has 3 errors?? 1. 2 pronged trident - clear to see without magnification 2. No stop after DEF 3. On the B of Brittianiar, it is not all there (see pics) Is it normal to have as many on one coin?? Thanks again 3 pics James
