  1. She presents This Morning and Dancing on Ice and other such inane programmes...
  2. I'll never say no to an opportunity to ogle Holly Willoughby (congrats on her new daughter btw!) http://xfactor-updates.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/holly-willoughby-featured.jpg http://www.mastcelebs.com/upload/Holly-Willoughby.jpg Enjoy! Oh - todays selection... Jessica Simpson, Halle Berry, Kate Middleton (vastly better than her Royal Mint image!) and Natalie Portman's ass!
  3. Oh, and on topic... split it 50:50 and tell 'em to stop being so ridiculous! As you say, no certainty that the remaining 800-odd coins would have been uncovered by Mr Dentistry-of-the-Year on his own!
  4. Beyonce?! I dont get Beyonce... Though Hollyby Willoughby more than makes up for that! Also, not sure who Jessica Lowndes is, but I'll have to fine out more!

    Another Penny

My thoughts exactly... the depression above and right a bit (the technical term!) of the ear makes that argument fairly strong... Although, I might have expected a greater loss of detail on both obv and rev...
  6. How very true... I've struggled to get anything like the £30 I'd hope for for a nEF 1887 4s (roman I), but sell bags of junk like 58 1960's pennies for £3.85!

    Royal Mail

I cant remember the last time I had to collect something from the sorting office because I wasnt in to sign for it at home! Must of had dozens of packages through the door with stickers in tact! I've since started having stuff sent to my office, as the postie here (in windsor rather than slough!) is rather more reliable! Not as bad a one courier company that 'delivered' to me though... gave my new phone to the window-cleaner who was doing next-doors windows - and couldnt be bothered to put a card in my door to say where is was!

    Just made my day!

    Clamed yourself?! Sounds painful!
  9. Oooo... now your asking! A little bit of a void around there... nearest ones are going to be... Bath/Bristol Banbury Oxford Oxford University or Newport I'm a little surprised there isnt something around Cheltenham/Gloucester... perhaps you could start your own local club!
  10. Well, from Rainham, the nearest will be Bexley (in Bexleyheath) or Essex (in Chelmsford)... contact details for both can be found on their websites as below: Bexley - click here Essex - click here
  11. Woohoo! Score one for the boys! <Sorry, I dont get to be right very often in my house, so I like to make the most of any male success!>
  12. I dont think Derek even qualifies as new blood any more!
  13. A brilliant breakdown there from John (argentum)! Personally, I would (or I have?!) start with option 1, and slowly move to option 3! Work on the premise that collecting will inevitably lead to upgrading a coin that you already have, and as such likely needing to liquidate the funds from the lesser coin to put towards more! If you are in the area, I'd be more than happy to welcome you to Reading Coin Club (I am the secretary there!), or if you are further afield, can point you in the right direction of your local club! We're all baying for young blood, so if it is something that you might be seriously looking at as a hobby (and/or business!) it will be well worth it!
  14. Thanks for emailing me the pic Susan - and to Gary for having the foresight to post them! Unfortunately, I concur with the post-mint assessment - looks like someone has has fun with a hammer! An interesting curio and/or conversation piece, but no 'special' value...

    1739 Crown

Possibly a 4?! Might just be looking for something that isn't there though!
  16. The missing I is fairly common - just look on fleabay! And to my eye, the GRA looks like post-mint damage rather than any die-flaws/errors... Sorry!
  17. Here here! To Danny - Look at it this way... if you went out and got a lower-wage job (say £15k pa), its a guaranteed income. Should you wish to deal in coins, to make a similar take-home you would need sales of £150,000 and thats working on a fairly lofty 10% margin! Also consider that you have had to outlay £140,000 in the first place! I have considered this myself in the past but worked out that I would require around £10k liquid capital to sink into 'stock' before it would be worth even trying! Given a mortgage, wife etc, this is unlikely in the near future - though given that I am less than 10 years older than you, I hope that may change!

    Oddities and Curiosities

Sorry... my bad... the concave/incuse side! The square 5p has been confirmed as a strike done whilst setting up the machines... the reverse is blank and its made of Aluminium! Full details here!
  19. Eek! Typo... meant 1344!
  20. Ok, you can have the open 3 penny, but I get the 1342 Double Florins - all of them!
  21. Wouldnt it be nice if we could build a time-machine and go have a look!

    Oddities and Curiosities

Nah... a brockage should have the reverse facing the right way in the mirror image (ie, the wrong way in hand)... if that make any sense, I'll eat my hat! They always say a piccy is worth a thousand words, so here goes! 1998-date penny George III halfpenny Viccy sixpence Not brockages, but a couple of other oddities: Double-struck 2p Square and aluminium 5p

    Oddities and Curiosities

Hey! Thats my sideline patch! If too many people catch on that these things are interesting my buying prices will rocket - and my pocket wont like that very much! I've got some pics of my favourite errors in my collection and will pop them up at the weekend! Oh - one of them is my new-fangled avatar thingy-whatsit!
  24. Certainly an interesting theory... not massively convinced myself, but as John said, anything is possible! Colin Cooke's Workman Part 2 (Lot 79) claims to be the best known at Fine (link)... no idea why none exist in better grade - I know only a few exist, but people have normal 1903 pennies in Unc, so why not a open 3?!

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Thats been around the houses as well... certainly the second if not third seller I'm seen with that!
