1837 Sixpence with 7 over ?
argentumandcoins replied to argentumandcoins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Totally plausible. A low grade example like this one leaves all bets on the table sadly. As Stuart says, surely there must be a better specimen out there for study whether it's a damaged die or man made error. -

Poor quality coin with a clear date. Is it a die break or a re-cut digit after an error? The 7 is higher than the first 3 digits and there appears to be an underlying number showing at the top and bottom also on the right side of the 7. Thoughts chaps. -

I did wonder if it was a broken 8 as that seemed to fit better than a 6? -

A quick question: How do the testicles know the difference between a hand shandy or handsfree job? Does that mean that too much doubling up results in overly large veins not just flying solo? -
Small collection of half sovereigns - selling?
argentumandcoins replied to cath's topic in Free for all
They all look nice mid to higher grade from the pictures. As a dealer I would be at £2000 on the whole lot to buy them. Your valuation for auction would be £1800-£2200 but you would have commission and other fees to pay (lotting etc) depending on which auction house you used. Hope that helps. -

I fear his xbox may be some form of x rated box that requires the wearing of a gimp mask to view, just a guess of course, but, it is Peter we're talking about -
Just when you think things can't get any tougher as a dealer...... I attempted to list a few items for auction on ebay last night. Ebay have recently moved the goalposts re charges, use of Turbo Lister etc and are becoming a real pain to deal on. I use photofuckit for my pictures on all websites (this one included) and was astounded to see a message pop up on my ebay listings rather than my pictures. The message told me that I could no longer use photofuckit for hosting on 3rd party sites unless I upgraded to their 500 plan. With over 2900 items on ebay this left me somewhat in the brown smelly stuff. My only option was to hope they greased me up as I bent over the barrel for them and I ended up shelling out the eye watering sum of £301 to upgrade for the year, yes, £301 or $389.99 to be more accurate....... Ebay are tightening up on off site deals now as well and they are removing all contact info or listings that it appears on. What's the answer? Go back to a website that costs £30/month but generates little trade or keep letting 3rd parties brutalise you?

I'm even lazier so here's the auction link https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/penrith-farmers-and-kidds-plc/catalogue-id-srpen10047 The coins started at lot 275 and the only halfcrowns to sell were lot numbers 303 (1671 1/1), 352 (1703 Vigo), 366 (1746/5 Lima), 368 (1817 D/T in DEI), 369 (1817 small head), 370 (1820 GIII in UNC) and 381 (1906). -

No problem Richard, you couldn't make me feel any worse than I already do if you dressed me in a pink chiffon tutu and called me Herbert.... A Glock 17 is a sweet little 9mm self loading pistol manufactured in Austria by Glock. 17 is the mag capacity, but I feel like I only need 1 at the moment -

Ah, just goes to show that I should have stuck to driving ARV's around Cumbria rather than writing catalogues for internet auctions eh Richard? Compooters and tinterweb leave me baffled at the best of times, give me a nice Glock 17 or H&K G36 and I'm happy -

I will thanks Mike. My next step is another sale (probably Tennants if I can negotiate a 0% rate with Rodney, Jane or Jeremy). Perhaps I may return them to LCA with a free hand for them and take a massive hit. I will remove the F21 and hold it for you until you are ready to take it Mike. -

No good asking me mate. I didn't get why hardly anything was attracting bids. Some of the halfcrowns were seriously rare and couldn't even attract a bid at a third of the low estimate. Yes you snatched a good one at a good price and that's what keeps our interest up as collectors. Well played Sir, nice straight bat -

Aye I was watching live too Mike. Some may think that the asking prices were too high and if that's the case all of our collections are worth half of what they cost. There seemed absolutely NO INTEREST and that was highlighted by the last lot in my section. 1.7Kg net of silver only attracted a bid of £420. There is currently £705+ in scrap value in that lot..... Pleased you got what you were after and I know it'll be looked after by you. Anyhoo I have an appt with a 12yr old called Glen Livet, I can safely say the little sod won't live to see 13...... -

The 1667 didn't sell Mike. Nothing has sold thus far. Some of the asking prices were insanely low and he couldn't get a single bid which leads me to believe that either the Halfcrown market is as dead as a dead thing in D eadsville or they failed to advertise the sale properly (my saleroom search for coins this week only threw up 6 of the PFK lots). If the Penny section does the same I may well need a bottle of Glenlivet to ease the pain tonight...... -
