  1. gooday peoples i have had this new 20 pence coin from 2008. it is the new shield version and has the date on it but on the bottom of the coin where the matthew dent stamp is there is an extra piece of metal that looks like a number 1. i have done a little reasearch on it and did find an answer that it could be a first of batch for this coin. is this true or is it just an extra lump of metal left after minting the coin or has anyone got one of these coins thanks
  2. i dont know really what it would be worth make me an offer
  3. i am a new collector of sixpences and noticed that my 1831 had been minted in medal alignment. is this the same for all sixpences minus pre 1787 as the rest of the dates i have are minted in coin alignment thanks
  4. her ya go obviously ive had to turn the coin so its the right way up I think we may be talking with our wires crossed here. When you say you had to turn the coin, do you mean the date is behind the top of the head, or is it behind the cut-off line on the neck? the date is behind the top of his head im guessing this is normal.lol

  6. all my post 1787 sixpences are all the same way up minus this 1831 which is the opposite way up from the other minted coins
  7. All the William IV sixpences I have seen have had an inverted die axis and there is no mention of this in either ESC or Davies, so this is clearly irregular. First of all, is it genuine? There are quite a number of Geo.III forgeries about, but I haven't seen any William IV. Post a decent picture to establish whether it is genuine and we can take it from there. here is a scan of the coin they arnt the best scans i could get but i had to downsize them which has made is low quality
  8. hello fellow coin collectors i have just bought the rotographic collectors coins gb 2009 and looking at the 1862 farhing i noticed there was a variation where a small 8 had been stamped over a large 8. i have an 1862 farhing so i decided to take a close scan of the date an looking at it the coin does seem to have a larger 8 underneath the main 8. the rest of the numbers on the date are fine and i would say the coin is in ef/unc condition hmmmm can anyone verify this for us please thanks again
