You're talking about what's at 6 o'clock? It just looks like a nasty dent on the obverse, but more like a plug in the same place on the reverse.

Mary Queen of Scots - Silver?

Warminster? -
Yes, I've had that too!Phew! It's not just me then...

15p a coin - that can't be bad! Especially considering you have some Victorian-era and earlier 20thC items in there.

Also, don't rule out the forum software - whichever browser I use in my main user account, this forum and another powered by the same software, have fairly recently developed an 'attack of the scrollbars'. The annoying thing is that they are both vertical and horizontal, but only there for the tiniest amount of scroll. Widening the page makes no difference, the bars go with it. It's the same with Firefox and Chrome too, but they're not there in another user account.

You have to wait until it's either online or go to the shop in person.

Ok, how about Ilchester, Cricklade, Shaftesbury, Malmesbury and Winchcombe? -
No H 1882 Penny :o
Peckris replied to jacinbox's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Looking closely at the 2 and what possibly underlies it, I'm wondering if it's been 'dropped in' over (perhaps) an 8. But then again, that would be far more work than removing the H ? -
Email sent.

Spinks (nor Baldwins nor any of the big names) would not look at them, but London Coins might throw them in as a job lot. Having said that, yes I agree Chris should be given first refusal.

You can certainly buy a 1968 penny As long as you don't mind that it's dated 1971 and comes in a rather cheap blue plastic wallet with 4 other decimal coins...

Mary Queen of Scots - Silver?
Peckris replied to andycheeseman's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
None of the illustrated types (http://www.britnumsoc.org/publications/Digital%20BNJ/pdfs/1968_BNJ_37_15.pdf) have REGINA in the legend, and the obverse bust faces right, and is not that rather ridiculous cartoon-style effigy. I think it's either a modern piece, or a jetton or gaming piece. -
No, it's not a spelling error. It's just a weakly struck R and therefore not very interesting or significant.

JG Pollard ... didn't he write very good sci-fi? Or perhaps I'm mixing him up with someone else ..

German comedy & cabaret
Peckris replied to ChKy's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Volker Pispers gets the point quite quickly. It is political cabaret, very precise, at the point and without mercy. The second video (the first part of a documentary shown in television) has english sketches in between, the third video is entirely in English. Ah, ok. I'll give them a go. -
German comedy & cabaret
Peckris replied to ChKy's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
That second guy (Mittermaier?) looks like he would be very funny, unfortunately the video is in German, which I don't speak. The guy in the first film breaks the golden rule of comedy - never stop and wait for a laugh! I might watch more, but I just don't have 45 minutes spare right now -
It's actually politicians perpetuating the status quo through a combination of inertia and vested interests. The classic example of this is the land tax issue which has been kicked around for more than a century. More than one analyst has calculated that if land was valued and taxed according to (1) its location and therefore the services invested in it (the City of Westminster being the ultimate example) and (2) its yield towards the 'common good', no-one would have to pay income tax or National Insurance (and possibly VAT). Individuals working in offices would pay a tax on their home, but less than they pay currently in tax/NI, farmers would pay proportionately very little in relation to their land ownership as their land is productive. In contrast, 'buy to let' landlords, the Duke of Westminster, the Duchy of Cornwall, etc etc, would at last pay their fair share towards the society they live in and to some extent sponge off. The overall income from land to the Treasury would be greater than the current haul from taxation, but no politician will ever preside over its implementation. Why? Vested interests. That's where the true power lies. (And let's hear no more about people on benefits - all they do is provide headlines to help sell copies of The Daily Mail, and to boost Channel 5's viewing figures. They have no real power).

Android emulator for Windows 7?
Peckris replied to TomGoodheart's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
There is an iOS emulator that comes with XCode I believe but I'm not sure if you can run apps that you haven't created yourself with it. Android apps are just files with the extension .apk and I think can be loaded in the Android emulator without too much trouble but iOS apps I think are an apparently meaningless collection of files that aren't conveniently bundled together and aren't really designed to be handled outside of iTunes. But I don't have a Mac so I'm not entirely sure. Sadly, I think you're right. I have a yen to play Plants versus Zombies 2, which comes in all flavours - iOS included - but not Mac. -
That 1868 proof is truly gorgeous ... though I suspect the contrast between red and brown (oh sorry - lustre and non-lustre ) would be much more noticeable "in hand".

Are you sending yourself up? There's a spelling error in your question. Chris is just pulling your leg.

Rarest Circulation Coin?

Not anything worth getting excited about. -
Some of the large silver from the 1940s are among the rarest coins you'll find anywhere in the British Isles.

You're talking about that agreement (4 letters, begins with a T ) that's got a load of people up in arms. It will give corporations immunity from national courts and allow them the ride roughshod over not only ordinary people but governments who don't agree with them, too. If you see a petition online against it - sign it!
