    Question Re: 1787 Silver Issues.

Probably throughout history, when economic times are bad, silver and gold disappears under mattresses
  12. confusing terminology gets in the way when discussing date widths in pennies the "narrow" dates for 1874, 1875, 1876, 1877, & 1879 are distinctly different dies from the "normal" or "large date" bun pennies - I prefer "small" date - using "wide" and "narrow" as descriptors for variation of date width for a specific die the former should be in the price guides, the latter not in my view edit: Just noted Accumulators post above

    Recent aquisitions

and another Latin American 28.9 mm 11.86g cupro-nickel pattern 1 real or Honduras 1870 - mint unknown but probably either Paris or London who were both experimenting with cupro-nickel as an alternative to bronze at this time (Paris produced the currency 1 real for 1869 & 1870, London starts the cupro-nickel penny series for Jamaica in 1869) happy with this on at £10, I was searching for an upgrade to my poor copy of the currency type

    Recent aquisitions

Another "penny" Ecuador 1872 2 centavos by Heaton, single year type, mintage unknown but probably less than 500,000, hard to find Does anyone know if there is a searchable achive for what Messrs Heaton actually produced in the second half of the 19th century?

    Yum!

I went from collecting pennies from change. ( Date run, but NOT all varieties completed long long ago (though many are in cr*p grade)0 - to foreign pennies and penny sized coins I just need one to complete my French bronze 10 centimes date/mint run (1853-1921) - the 1878 K ... very rare & pricey assuming you can find one Nowadays I tend to buy what appeals to me at the time, most likely still to be large copper/bronze though

    2013 2 Pence

Just pulled 3 2013 2 pence from my pocket change - looking to pick one to keep[ One is normal, the other two have approx 120 degree die rotation, ie with obverse normal at 12 o'clock, the reverses are about 8 o'clock A sample of 2 out of 3 not a good statistical sample as they could well all have come out the same mint bag does this happen often these days?

    2013 2 Pence

it's actually worse than I thought - two different die rotations! these three 2 pence carefully positioned on the scanner with the tops of the shields aligned with a ruler as best I could the other shield twopences I have (not 2013) all appear normal be interested to see whether this sloppiness at the Mint is normal for this issue - check your change please folk
  22. Not got a clue on this copper - can anyone help? 3.8mm thick, 27.2-27.6mm diameter, 16.76 g ? Indian native stae or central Asia - one of the 3 scripts looks vaguely Russian
