  1. How on earth can you find it stressful? I think Tom was jesting.......
  2. I can see nothing unusual in a 1962 penny, having checked several sources.Unfortunately, the coin is dirty and the picture is inconclusive.I would advise against cleaning the coin at this stage....
  3. Nice site, particularly enjoyed the ''dissolve'' between pages and some of the links have been useful. Well done!!
  4. O.k thats it.I have just spent the last hour or so browsing Ebay coins.I have lost track of the number of spelling mistakes and criminally optimistic pricing of some items for sale.I know that we have been joking on here for a while now,but I think I'll leave Ebay for a day or so to get back to normal,or at least as good as it gets......I couldn't be bothered to paste links as the joke has now worn a little thin,or in the case of one KN penny on offer ''it looks fraid around the edges but it isn't'' 'Nuff said?
  5. It gets better!!!!!!!!!!!Look at the other Heaton mint coins he has to offer The ''error'' is quite obviously common ''ghosting'' This guy beggars belief
  6. No,just tenacious, you'd be amazed at what turns up at landfills and has a potential to be misused by the unscrupulous. After all, why the boom in shredders in the last few years?. Complacency is the enemy of security.....
  7. Granted the non-coin trinkets are naff,However, lots of interesting new sets, whats amateur about that?

    new guy here

Firstly,Welcome to this forum........ I cant comment on your coins as I am a relative 'newbie' I am housing my collection in plastic wallets which are acid free-is there a problem with plastic?
  9. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!! nice touch to have birthdays on the forum, and also to realise that I'm not the oldest here
  10. There's something about date runs that is so compelling......
  11. Ahem.....If I could bet on that I'd be rich...meantime,back from the land of dreams......
  12. An example in Fine is generally quoted between £3 and £5 depending on your preferred source. So the price you paid is probably on the high side for the example pictured.
  13. Well, that is one to top them all,I'm amazed......
  14. My interest began when a small quantity of coins were handed down from my grandparents, nothing of any particular monetary value, however, this stimulated my interest. My collection began to grow, and I quickly realised that I had little or no interest in anything non-british.Or indeed anything much older than 1750 ish....not sure how this came about,it's just a personal preference. I can recommend the download for ''Collectors coins GB 2006'' available on the main site.It contains useful information and the images are superb. As to grading, yes you will probably be bitten several times by unscrupulous individuals,it's diffcult to avoid.Just remember,it's not only about the grade itself,it's what a particular coin is ''worth'' to the individual.Even if one is filling in dates,a certain satisfaction can be got by completing a run of dates even if paying a little over the odds at times. I'm a newbie to this forum too,and I have found it of interest and use, so stick around, there's plenty to learn here!! Welcome, good luck, and enjoy...........
  15. Here endeth this thread methinks.......Case proven M'lud?........
