 Silly question time fella's What exactly is W.W and where on the coin can i find it? Appologies for the stupidity of the question but its gone straight over my head? -
And there was me thinking oh i havent seen a coin like that yet, it must be silver. Yea i understand that the coin is in very bad condition and not worth anything, i can see this going onto that scrap pile which is getting bigger by the day! RCL35 cheers for the good news on the 1913 cheers

Arabic coin - Dont know where from?
thedigger replied to thedigger's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
Luckily enough ive only found a small number of Islamic coins...coin collecting and the finding of a noice coin is far too complicated for me without having to add or take-away hundreds of years to get the Real date -
This has had a debate going in our house since i found it amongst the cother coins. Please put us all out of our misery. I can say it looks Arabic (from the writing). It is about the size of a new 2 pence piece (British) Would weigh about the same as above also. But thats about all the information i can give at the moment, sorry. This coin has a stamp on it 1321. But is that really the date? Did they really make perfectly round coins in that era? Or is it a token and what i have mistaken for a date is a number mark? Is it real? Where is it from? Hope you PROFESSIONALS on here can help with this one please. cheers Ive put photo's of back and front and also the date, which has been taken with a digi-cam through a glass in order to maganify, hope it is veiwable?

Australian six pence George VI
thedigger replied to thedigger's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
Scott & Peckris, Cheers for your valuable knowledge Will keep plundering through them, there does seem to be quiet a lot of Austrailian coins amongst them thanks again fella's -
Here is an Autrailian sixpence from 1942 George VI. The coin on front has a profile of George VI and lettering ends with D: IND:IMP on rear a kangaroo & emu holding a shield with a scroll underneath with the words ADVANCE AUSTRAILIA underneath is the date 1942. I would like to know if possible the following: What grading what be put on this coin? Is there any value to the coin other than face value? cheers

Here is a 1916 George V penny which i think the front can be seen slightly on the back? The back of the coin is a lot more shiney than the front...is it possible that the back has in its life been cleaned, if so has this destroyed the coin? Is this a common problem or as im going through these coins am i getting too picky by trying to find "that all elusive coin" While im asking so many questions...I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that have taken the the time to answere every question ive posted so far..cheers

Hello, Yet again im calling on the expertise of members of this forum for help Bearing in mind i am only using on-line searches and do not have any official books (yes i now know that i need them) Hopefully my questions regarding coins do not come across too stupid..this is not my game, as you know im not a collector and fortunately have been given two collections. I cannot seem to find a copy of this coin, possibly due to the condition of mine, as you can see its not in good condition at all and i have a feeling the denomination of coin has been worn away. help appreciated cheers all.

Am i correct in saying that this is a 1797 George III penny? This again, was found amongst my late father-in-laws collection. Are these rare? What sort of grading would you put on this coin. Thanks in advance cheers

Victoria 18? coin possibly a penny
thedigger replied to thedigger's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I would say it is possibly a farthing, Britainniars helmet doesen't protrude the legend on Rev as it would with a Penny, and the Obv looks similar to the penny Obv. Check the diameter, Coppers are the following sizes - 34mm Penny, 28mm Halfpenny and 22mm Farthing.John Thanks Chingford & Rob, I think this was my mistake. I was in the middle of sorting out quite a few pennies and had pennies on the brain when i posted, but again you have cleared things up for me. As you've both mentioned it is a farthing, but im still unclear about the date though? cheers -

thedigger replied to thedigger's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
Hello Peter, Oh my day is getting worse So the Islamic dating is completely different, i did wonder why the coin over 600 years old was in reasonable condition and still perfectly round? there in lies my ignorance and amateur knoweledge on dating and more-so the coin profession in general . I will eventualy get round to acquiring more information on this coin and its value if any at all but i want to sort out and sell the British coins first....i think....Oh i dunno i will just go with the flow Once again Peter thank you very much for clearing the dating up for me cheers mate! -
Arabic coin - Dont know where from?
thedigger replied to thedigger's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
Cheers, seem to be "not as rare" as i thought that it would be by all accounts, using one site, but another site seems to think that it is rare as tey have a coin up for sale with a picture (same coin) no price but in large letters the word Rare" across it?? So it really was the date of 1321 ........I wonder how many peoples hands that has passed through? thanks again mate -
:o Wow David that was quick. Thank you very much and now i will reseach this, you say that this is a "one year issue" cheers mate

This coin is dated 1881. It is approximately a slight bit smaller than an Old Penny, with its weight being about the same as an Old Penny. Ive searched the russian coins on the sites that i know of and all of them are stating that the period of this coin is Ruble and or Kopek, however none of the ones that they list are even similar to mine? Any help would be as always appreciated. cheers
