A majority of people who sell Coins on eBay are'nt businesses, they are merely people who think they've inherited the most fantastic coins, coin collectors would call them washers.

I can throw things in the bin for free and the council will collect. . But lets not forget, Rob and Aardhawk, even when Rob dös Throw those coins out and the Council collects it, its still costing Rob money because he pays Council tax for the pleasure of his refuse to be collected. So you see Aardhawk NOTHING comes for free

It seems to me that its more the American Government who seems to be paranoid about everything, what o don't like is how they are trying to control Banks against businesses, they even threatened banks, visa, paypal etc over the wikileaks which replies on donations to operate. It seems Freedom of speech is dead in the USA. So when these dealers face possible ruin and life on the unemployment, WHO will compensate them for loss of earnings and more importantly, who's gonna pay their obamacare?

I was just reading yesterday on the BBC News app that Southebys are teaming up with ebay somehow so they can hit a wider audience becaise their recent online auctions have done well, but why ebay, they just sell shite and have idiots who don't pay. Can you imagine the negative feedbacks from their postage

Why are you smiling? Scotland didn't even qualify ... as per usual. Was there any point in England Qualifying? They were embarassing. I smiled due to my adopted country winning the tournament -

Within reason Well, look at it this way ... an investor has a $50 million portfolio. They put just 2% into alternatives. That is still $1 million. Sorry, I must have dropped my wallet with that 50 million in. We're talking real world Jaggy, which means for people who do a regulär job and have a mortgage and other outstanding Bills to pay monthly I've every sympathy with your POV Dave. Sadly though, it's the few with well-lined pockets who actually form and dictate the market, at least, at the highest end of quality and rarity. Don't get me wrong Peck, i have a fair bit more now after being taken on by my company last year instead of through an agency, my salary has doubled, but i'm not going to be throwing money at coins just because i have more, i'm still going to pick and choose but i still want value for my har earned money. -

That's a salutory lesson in how to sell, or rather how not to.Perhaps the sellers thought he would'nt come back to cash in his chips, wonder how he found out it had dropped in price. An interesting scenario though for those selling "investment coins" might be a lesson to be learnt here -

New Baldwins fixed price list

As i said previously, we don't all have the finances to Throw around X amount of many thousands at coins. A majority here are what i'd call a normal everyday collector where £1000 is probably the absolute maximum they want to spend and have maybe even saved a month or 2 just to get that. We're not all loaded full of money, i personally have Tended to shy away from certain grades and coins, i'm now looking at my hobby as Investment for myself and family but i'm not going to throw 5k at a coin. I was actually just reading a piece in the latest coin news where an Australian guy bought a coin for a few humdred thousand aussie dollars from a dealer who promised that in 2 years it would be worth 50k more and they'd pay that price if he came back to them and sold it. Turns out that in the 2 years it had dropped to $128k, he then successfully sued the company who are now in liquidation owing 11 million and the Court Held up his case and they now owe him the total amout they told him it would be worth, around $350k. Coin collecting can get as elitest as it wants, its only going to attract a minority, i'll stick to what i can afford. -

Who is buying them, my guess is Japanese collectors who seem to have an abudance of Yen -
Oh well, just need to keep your eyes open for something else. I wouöd have bidded but he was'nt going to Shop to me
-
Top spot, Dave...man, you're good! I've been watching it from day one! I'd be happy to buy it back! Typical irregular flan of this date, though! Edit: by irregular I mean slightly ovoid! Did you take a stab Stewie? Sold for £90.01 just goes to show that ebay has really gone downhill for selling a half decent coin

Sounds like a collector who's upgraded then

Was this a recent purchase from you Stuart? I actually asked about it because he states he only ships within the UK which he's not moving on. If i were you Stewie i'd also try and buy it back if it stays under £100, its ebay after all, so it probably will unless he's going to up it himself. I did mention to him though where it came from and the price paid, so he'll now know i'm only interested in the final price
-
This is one of Stewies (coinery) coins. Dunno when he sold it to the ebay seller but lets see if the seller recoups the £150, he's halfway there 231275904316. i'm highlighting it to see if the seller has basically bought it too sell on or try too sell on for profit. If its not to expensive maybe Stuart can take a pint and buy it back for less than he sold it for good economics
