Be nice to see it. Here's an interesting half mark I got my hands on recently. Many of the half marks of 1918 and 1919 were darkened by the mints (geschwärzt) to prevent hoarding. You are correct, they started this practise in 1917 which you can read about from my Kurt Jaeger guide book
  5. Lot 1818 possibly one for Seuk
  6. Lot 1805 looks to be a suspect Northumberland, looks to be a scratch from the mouth and Tops missing off the OBV legend
  7. Lot 1799 is quite a Statement considering the Verd on the OBV, finest known apparently (my arse) and how do they know that its the "finest known" unless its slabbed and can be checked against a population

  9. Why bother indeed. I would do the same if someone was trying to rip you off Rob, and as i seem to have a Passion for coins i hate little scroats trying to rip off the more unsuspecting sometimes gullable ebayers, remember, i did the same when Platt was (and probably still is) ripping ebayers off for thousands every month. Word of mouth is this community sometimes goes a Long way.
  10. Whats the Betting the seller does'nt even own this, it actually looks like one of buckscoins scans http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXTREMELY-RARE-CHARLES-I-TRIPLE-UNITE-1642-BRITISH-GOLD-HAMMERED-COIN-VF-GVF-/191085075590?roken=qEBTxX (null)
  11. It had to be done. Raising the bidding in such a fashion should have alerted ebay that something was up alongwith the reports they must have received about the sellers fraudulent activity. Surely when the actual owner of the coin reported it, it should have been sorted then instead of letting it go on
  12. I was outbid, so i'm at 15k now, its sitting at above 9k
  13. I suggest that everyone make a large bid on the item. I've kicked off with £8995
  14. It is in fact one of buckscoins, there is a picture stamp on the bottom left with his name on it

I had a 1 Mark kicking about somewhere and lost it during a move , it was a really nice coin. Ahhhh well
  16. They are incused Bob. I've decided to send them to PCGS Paris, so going to do a membership with them where i can get 8 free gradings in 1 year, so we'll see how that goes. I must add that me getting these graded is purely for the American market, they are high grade and am looking to realise their FULL potential
  17. Another encounter with Downies (not mine): http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=162460 Looks like Downies being a little dishonest in their description as it had been through previously and described as fantasy/Prop. Piece for television. Very very naughty Downies, they're now on my List of places not to bid at
  18. Hello Turbo, opening a shop is'nt as easy as having 2 Kilos of coins, you really Need too know what the coins are and their value to even stand a Chance. Your best bet is to buy some books on the subject first of all, then have a read around here (especially on the grading subject) then go through your 2 Kilo bag. Just as an aside, having 2 kilkos of coins stored in a bag won't be doing them any good, they'll be knocking against each other levaing marks all over them thus reducing any value. Welcome to the Forum
