Spink Stops Coin Dealing......
azda replied to Colin88's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Where? (null) -
They are all suspect to wall bidding, but as Rob points out, low ball bids can also be effective. If you can watch/bid/listen live the. You also have a chance to NOT bid as the case was at the last DNW sale where a majority of coins went stratospheric and so when you actually got back up from Fällung on you back at the opening price it was already gone at 5-10 times estimate. The next 2 Sales at Londons and DNW will be interesting, but i still won't bid on Londons for 2 reasons, conflict of interest (CGS& Londons) plus no live bidding which for a major auction house like Londons is pretty much behind the times

The seller is Martin Platt so take his grade with a pinch of salt. He generally ups ALL grades by at least 1 full grade if he can get away with it. He also uses acetone quite frequently on copper. He's recently changed his ebay name from *country*cottage*interiors* which is actually his wifes ebay id, his was *classic*british*coins*

Words of much encouragement gents, and thank you. I shall be staying and try and not let things get to me so much. Brandon aka brg, this is a BRITISH coin Forum and not an American one, we do here rip apart TPGs from America and even the one in the UK (CGS) you taking offence to me having my opinion was OTT and when we discuss this Topic (which is more than likely several times a year) it can run into pages upon pages, the last time we discussed CGS for instance, it ran into 15 page in 2 weeks. So maybe think about where you are exactly, this isn't the coincommunity Forum where 95% of members are American and love slabs and toning (which is another subject) this is a great BRITISH Forum, the best on the web for British coin discussions and i don't want to be banned from here for getting riled at you, it's not worth it. Anywy gents, thanks again for your encouraging words, i'm off to post in coin aquisition of the week now.
-
I do accept that, but HE could'nt accept that i'm not a fan of plastic and have MY OWN OPINION ON THAT SUBJECT nor am i a fan of how the Plastic fans in America would trade the same coin for a 1 Point difference on said plastic plus he disliked that i mentioned Artificial Toning. I don't quite understand how you can come in at the END of all this and quite simply say it all down to me. You Need to have looked back at the Facts and not just simply delete the plain truth of where and why i exploded.

Dave, you've just had a spat with another forum member. It happens! You and I have fallen out in the past but always made it up (or so you think .. ). I don't see that's any reason to leave. Take a few deep breaths and count to 11. Besides, if you leave, who am I gonna insult from now on??? There is the difference Peck, this numpty is making out that because i've made comments againts American TPGs he's trying to make it into a racist issue. He's also on the coincommunity Forum and is obviously a big fan of American TPGs and we all know how those darn Americans will defend those TPGs to the hilt because what they say is Gospel. He's been at this for "several weeks" and just yesterday or the day before on the Topic he started "Show us your bronze and copper" thread he uploaded at Viccy 4d and in the description he said lets see which hater blah blah blah, now unfortunately either Chris or Scottishmoney has deleted this post but it just Shows which direction he's taking and if you have ANYTHING against PCGS or NGC and voice your opinion about them then you'd better watch out. Chris, you have only read this part of the Problem, you have'nt went back to the start, this thread is where it eventually erupted. I'm only confrontational when i'm being attacked by some arse that's only been here for 21 days, as i said previously, look at the beginning of this thread and you'll read his comment about myself being "ill-informed" and himself being "well-informed" but that was just the ending and not the beginning of the Problems.

An' me avatar is wee better lookin' 'han yours twa. Yous twa

Chris, as i wrote in my previous post. It's Been the American gentleman who is getting confrontational. His 21 days here has been littered with posts having a dig at me and on this thread where i'm told my advice is "i'll-informed to his well-informed opinion" was the starw that broke the camels back. In every thread i've so far commented on in the past few weeks there has been an underlying goading from him and if you look again at the ebay laughs thread he's again commented. So for this reason i've decided to leave the forum, i cannot understand how you can say i'm confrontational, i've used potty language but this has been after several weeks of his underlying problem with me with commemts like "i'm always negative" and "i'll-informed advice" I did apologies to the forum, but not to that ass in question. Thanks for all the laughs and great info guys but i can't hang around while this idiot is on here or else i won't be able to keep my tongue quiet. Ciao

Several weeks, eh? I have been a member here for 21 days -- so seems to be a bit of an exaggeration. azda, remember who started with the vulgar mud slinging. It was you. I have remained civil throughout all of your frustration and drama. I get that you don't like opinions that differ from your own, but no where have I personally attacked you. I have disagreed with you, sure. But, that's the nature of a "discussion forum", is it not? Further, I don't know of any of my replies that have been deleted...are you confusing me with someone else; or have you had a bad dream recently? I simply don't see why your feathers are so ruffled so as to be apparently losing sleep over an online quibble. Life goes on. Rest well though, as I've recently discovered the ignore feature on this forum, and you will have to worry no more of my replying to your posts, as I won't ven have to read or see them. Cheers. Obviously you don't understand that several weeks means 2 weeks (14 days) and you have been a member for a mere 21 days which in turn means you've been having a dig at me simce your 1st week of being here. I've now decided that i should now leave the forum because of your constant goading which AGAIN you have done on this thread. It seems it does'nt matter which thread i comment on tha you will constantly be digging a knife into me.Unfortunately, it seems that you are allowed to continually Harass me and Chase me around on here and so it leaves me no option but to not come back. The bullying win. When he starts on another member i'm sure something will be done then. Ciao guys, its been a blast but one of us had to go.
-
I should turn the other cheek Peck, and of course you are correct, so when he's been correctly put into his place by the admin of this site due to his constant attacks on me personally then thats when i'll let it go. He should NOT be allowed to just simply get away with this while i have to constanly defend myself, his goading of me over several weeks is dotted over the site, or at least it was until his little nitpicking replies were deleted, so he can walk away whistling dandy whilst i'm left still extremely annoyed that he has'nt been moderated or better still, banned

I think you also seem to be getting the wrong Impression of why i exploded scottishmoney. I will explain, but before i do, i also noticed you've deleted my comment on this thread from last night. This Explosion was nothing to do what so ever with this thread and American TPGs, it was to do with FACT that the American poster has been Digging HIS CLAWS into me for the past 2 weeks which you can see from several threads such as "toned coins" thread and another. Now when you start deleting my comments and not looking at the cause then i think its getting a little one sided don't you? As is Aid in my deleted comment, i'll make my apologies to the forum for my outburst but not to the poster who Sees fit to continually goad me about my opinion (which is a perfectly good opinion) although according to him, my opinion does'nt really count as you can see from the beginning of this topic

Common E1 6D But Top Grade!
azda replied to Coinery's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Just think of it as a minor hiccup Stuart but always keep the eye on the ball because as a coiny you'll bounce back. I wish though you'd have thrown the link up earlier, i would have taken a Stab at that coin. I assume due to it being so near Christmas that people are'nt spending as much, i just hope the same applies at DNW -

£282 final bid. Cheap -
I've heard Ozzy Osborne and Black Sabbath are doing a reunion tour and are doing Munich, so that's on my list for next year. Peter, what do you think of Bowies newer stuff? I personally think he went downhill after the late 80s

this guy auditioned for a s small bit Part in the 1990s Movie The Commitments, but when they heard his Voice he got the Main Part. Andrew Stromg

Unfortunately you got the wrong harter this time I think you need to tone your hatered of me down or else i'm going to be speaking to the forum owner about the possibility of you being removed. I have nothing against your coins but i'm now having a problem with your somewhat hate towards me. Now i've asked nicely this time.Oh and p.s, you obviously don't seem to quite get it. I dislike AT toned coins where people practise this in order to gain mamy more $s than a coin is worth, this is practised mainly in America, the 4d you've displayed is an attractive naturally toned coin.
-
Lol, brillant Scott, but watch out, we have a negative investigator on the forum
-
Exactly what i said a few days ago about Londons Vicky. They must be losing revenue by not using online bidding
-
I'd best not say anything, don't want to be accused of being negative towards coins but my god are'nt they crap lovely
-
Thi ´s is very true, our difference is that we're not being told by large multinational companies that slabbing is the only way to achieve coin greatness. America is driven by Marketing companies who tell you that you must blah blah blah or else and the poor souls buy into it so much so that they swap/sell a coin for a Point more on a slab, what is 1 Point exacvtly, could you Point it out on the two same coins side by side? In the UK, we buy coins becaise of the history of them, who has owned them before us etc, this is my Points and absolutely NOTHING to do with American bashing as according to the poster. There are several American collectors on here who have'nt bought into the TPG mentality, those are true collectors in my opinion, those are the People who want to collect for the history and not for the Dollar, so forgive me Vicky and Bob if it has come across like that, and my aploogies to the rest of the Forum. I'm a passionate collector as you all know.

I find that the Australian auction houses and Heritage generally start at around book price for grade. Heritage being startospheric with their hammer prices. DNW is getting a bit popular with foreign buyers which in turn is pushing prices even higher. It may take a rethink Rob because i can see Spink being outdated fairly quickly next year and a lot of frustrated bidders. Hopefully my comment was'nt to negative

2nd thread for you to read http://www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/8278-very-suspect-grading-by-pcgs/ Please not that the 2nd poster is American. Can you see his negative comment towards the coin grading? So lets see what you say about his negative comment
-
You can start by reading this thread and all it contains, including the link to the other forum, i wonder how many other people you can see from this forum being negative about the coin in question, yet as i keep saying, you seem to be trying to pick on me, you've picked the wrong man http://www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/8267-comments-welcome-on-this-1892-26/ When you've read all that then pöease Feel free to comment. I'll post another link shortly and see if you pick on anyone else who said something negative about your dear american TPG. If you don't have a dig at anyone else after reading the. I'll know you have a problem with just me and then see what we can do about you

I have collected for 25 years, all that while in the American market. I have owned 1,000+ graded coins from NGC and/or PCGS, and many thousands more that were raw. I have regularly attended shows, and followed all major auctions in the USA for the past 5+ years. It is simply not true that we worship plastic and grade labels as an entire country of collectors. Further, your obsession with disavowing the occasional rainbow-toned coin in plastic is massively over-emphasized. Most TPG-graded coins sold in the USA are properly graded by our Sheldon 70-point scale, and the proportion that are mis-graded is far less than your comments would lead one to believe. You will notice that I don't have strong (and vulgar) opinions of the CGS and UK coin grading market -- mostly because I prefer to only chime in on topics for which I have sufficient experience. Where I do feel I have seen enough to be informed is to say that LondonCoins is someplace I will not purchase from. The quality is simply not there, not to mention the handful of clear counterfeit coins they sell but seem to not care about. So, what are your "credentials" -- since I don't know you from Adam -- enlighten me. Because, all I've seen here on this forum is your incessant regurgitation of anti-American collector sentiment. Almost every post you make here is judgmental and negative. How am I to perceive who you are besides from your replies here. Cheers. Funnily enough you've the 1st one to say i have an anto American collector Sentiment and there is more americans on this forum than just you yet i've not heard them say that. You came onto this forum and then have an Agenda with me, you tell me nearly every post i make is negative. Here is my tuppence worth. Go check my 2-3 years worth of posts and give me the ratio of negative posts that you CLAIM i've made, Beat in mind i have a few thousand posts, then get back to me. Now, back to your "properes graded coins.I'll return to reply to that when i have the thread that accumulator started about a coin graded "properly apparently" by PCGS 0, then take a wee looksy at that and then come back and give me another laugh
