Freeman 30 ~ 1862 6 Over 8 On E Bay, Nice, But Cleaned....
azda replied to 1949threepence's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I think you are right about the 6/8 Penny Colin. They just don't become available that often. I have been thinking about a offer on it my self. BTW...the 1877 Narrow date now resides in Great Britain! Ha,Ha! No wonder you made a trip around the British Isles. I hope you brought it with you to save the hefty tax bill that e buyer would incur lol -
They are all slightly different, but behave in a similar fashion. I've just tried it with Firefox (v24.0) and I can "Save Image As..." by right clicking the image (when expanded). Me to

Invoice finally arrived and now paid. That took some time though

This is the coin that disappeared. How do you copy or save the image on these listings? Right clicking doesn't give copy as an option and I need these images for my records. Thanks.Click the sellers image Rob until it displays in its own screen, then right click and save. Wonder of we'll see that coin again.

It's absolutely pointless. As I explained. Most of the coins have a reserve but there is'nt enough people bidding to hit the reserve. When I emailed the seller of one coin 2 months ago, we'll lets just say I'm STILL awaiting his reply
-
I have replied to your message, it was sold through eBay. Thanks for your response anyway.

Coin 1 GVF or NEF, pearls on the right hand side of the crown are gone Coin 2 EF Coin 3 EF/GEF Coin 4 NVF Coin 5 VF Coin 6 GVF at a push

I've seen it, watched several auctions and though I'd won one only to find it relisted minutes later as the seller had a reserve but you can't see that it has a reserve on. As for the coins section, maybe about 3 pages so about 30 coins which you probably won't win because of the reserve. In short, it's pretty pointless bidding because the seller won't answer how much the reserve and there is'nt enough people bidding to hit the reserve.

Ohhhhh thats naughty, where'd the Cromwell come from?

Just noticed the error in this shilling. Is this common. I'll not Point it out just yet and see if anyone else picks up on it. Stuart, Rob Clive?

Liz I Shilling, A Common Error?

Nope, you both have it. Thanks -
This is the coin that disappeared. That's the bugger Clive
-
No wonder best prices are responded to quickly, at his prices I'd have the computer manned 24hrs a day
-
Might have something to do with Stuart's use of 'moody' which is a London slang word for suspicious or not genuine. Can't be Nick, as we were talking about 2 different sellers. Stuart was talking about coinageofengland a coin, whereas it was Platts that was taken off
-
Getting back on topic, still no invoice yet, anyone else? Although the coin I bought I have found it previously sold twice at Heritage, once in 2011 for $550 hammer and this year for $475, looks like whoever bought it this year has tried to make a quick buck by selling at St James but he/she has made a loss
-
It's only on for a weekend Derek and is always packed, just saying, as I'd rather buy british coins in the flesh than online, at least you get to know the dealers.
-
Yes I've also noticed it's gone Stuart. Maybe he got an offer or maybe he was'nt happy it was highlighted here

Grading Advice1758 Shilling
azda replied to Gary's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
There is an emergency reset for those wee Problems Stuart. Hold the middle button and the power button together and wait for about 5-10 seconds, it will power off, on reboot it should be ok. -
I see our favourite ebayer has a Cromwell halfcrown up. I predict many many bids on this by his many circle of friends

He canna afford it, he keeps telling us he's skint, unless he has Scottish blood in him -
English coins are popular in Germany and Europe wide. The fair is called numismata I think, and I believe it was the 1st weekend in Feburary and is generally quite busy. I got an 1850 shilling from there last year
-
There's a fair in Munich every February, Baldwins was here this year, dunno if it interests you for next year

I have'nt seen the coin in question Vicky but perhaps people are taking Spink values as what should be paid when it seems quite clear that the choice british coinage are selling way above for what spinks thinks people should pay for coin X. As has always been pointed out about Spink, it's merely a guide, the other thing that should be pointed out that we now know on the forum, is that choice coins are definately going to be fought over by top end buyers who have a large bank balance
