  1. I'm going to be brutally honest here and say NONE. I read your post that you have limited funds, so why not save the 66 quid, add to it and wait for a better example to come along?
  2. 13.5% fees if its paid by Paypal, they take 3.5% to
  3. I've never used a scanner to image coins, always a camera. You'll find my plate sized results dotted about the coin aquisition of the week thread. The Martin Platt images on Tony Claytons site are i'm sure camera work
  4. No problem! PM me your details and I will pop it in the post tomorrow for you, be sure to let me know what it is Put it on ebay USA and maybe get a few pennies for another coin that you'd like...
  5. There is also ugly toned and artifically toned coins, so do beware. Generic Lads link seems to be an artifically toned coin
  6. You forgot the other 3 zeros on that £50 sum Peter
  7. Why you think the Grade is Fine is beyond me. I'd go better than Paulis and say NEF, maybe even EF iny humble opinion. A nice coin indeed if you got it for Fine money. Well done.
  8. Idiots with lots of cash obviously. Coming from Beverly hills i'd say both

How did you learn to grade coins?

P.s, if buying from America or from a historic overgrader seller on eBay, ALWAYS take their grading with a large pinch of salt
  10. Aye, that one has been doing the rounds on Facebook
  11. Same here with Mcafee

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Should maybe ask if he's going to relist it as i missed such a bargain
  16. From our favourite pair of ebayers. This 1804 Half Guinea seems to be losing colour on the REV graded as AU50 , i think someone really need specs whoever graded it as that at PCGS, is this possible for gold to lose colour? I also notice he has the same 1824 Sov listed as me also, will be interesting to see where that ends up. Same usual bidders though http://www.ebay.co.u..._fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 1804 Half guinea http://www.ebay.co.u..._fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 1824 Sovereign
  17. Love the Health & Safety bit at the end Huss lol
  18. REV has a nice big ding on the lions shoulder, i think you can get a little better, they are not uncommon. I'd personally say it was more VF/GVF ish

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Been using Debbie's grading scale...Very F**ked to Extremely F**ked! 5mithyg clearly has choice crap. However, one cannot fault his description that it would stand out very well in the purchaser's collection. Maybe he's a reincarnation of the guy in Cornwall who used to have this sort of material by the bucketload. Can't remember his id though (cdsteve(?) or something like that. *classic*british*coins*? now known as *country*cottage*interiors* whilst awaiting his ebay suspension being lifted or he's doing his tax returns
  21. Well, that depends. There are 2 kinds of detector finds, the genuine ones and those that are actually fake coins and people implying they were detector finds so as to fool a buyer into buying the fake coin, so yes, do be wary of these.and if in doubt, ask first before you potentially lose money
  22. Just bought a couple meself. Krause has a bit of a sale on, so got the 1801-1900 Book on coins, plus a provincial bank note book, both cost with postage $114 and also got the Australian version of Spink (McDonalds) at around AU $40

    1845 Victoria half sovereign

Robbie, by the look of it yours is less than Fine and Spinks price Guide is just that, a price guide. The next is a cut and paste from Toy Claytons website listing realistic prices for Half Sovereigns Victoria Note that bullion values have a marked effect on the value of half sovereigns, and recent changes have rendered the listings below obsolete. In January 2012 the minimum value of a half sovereign was about £124. Young Head 1845 140 450 1500 275010s Yours i'd say was Poor, and listed here in Fine the pice is 140, it's probably only bullion value, maybe 140 quids worth depending on the bullion price today You can go here and take a look http://www.coins-of-...s/halfs.html#QV
