A very honest answer and i wiuld have said the same thing. What riles me about America is that they finaned the Afghanistan war in the 80s against the Russians but are more than annoyed when the same wespons are used against them and i'm more than sure they've played their part in the Arab uprisings from last year.

His Cromwell 50 shilling is partucularly cheap at only £175,000, nice coin though, One to drool over for a while. He Stands to make 20,000 profit if he sells the coin Richard started the topic with at the selling price. Nice job if you have the cash

Steve if I had that sort of spare cash lying around I would probably spend £42k on wine, women and gambling, then just waste the £500 that was left over And waste the rest on wine and women

Counterfeit Edward VII 1905 ‘Research’ Shilling (Fake, Forgery, Co
azda replied to Coinery's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I was talking in general about the 05 shilling, i'd heard of altered dates on the shilling, but whats worrying is that John mentioned that the person who passed it to him had it 10 years. -
Counterfeit Edward VII 1905 ‘Research’ Shilling (Fake, Forgery, Co
azda replied to Coinery's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Very, in high grade, along with the 05 Halfcrown which is also faked in abundance. Whats more worrying is that John mentioned that the shilling was in someones collection for 10 years and he thought for all those 10 years it was genuine. We all assumed the Chinese has been at this for 4 or 5 years, but who knows where this one has come from. Did the seller tell you John? -
I've maybe seen that before, but what a gem! Is that yours Derek? No, it was sold on e-bay a few years back, I did bid for it but unsurprisingly it went out of reach. Another one which got away was a 1940 penny re-cut with a swastika instead of the union jack. Someone with a time viewer that could look 70 years ahead. I believe the swastika was a good luck symbol before it was adopted by the Nazis. I seem to remember it being used by the National Savings Bank pre war. I have a worcester salt token with a swastika for good luck Its not actually a Swastika, the leg of the Swastika points at the 180 degree, this has the flat at 180 degree. This is the swastika, or Hakenkreuz as it's called in German, distinctly different in use.

Ok, just read a little bit on this. It seems letters have been sent to 32,500 people who buy on ebay to sell on at a profit on ebay. eBay Traders in HMRC Tax Spotlight HMRC’s ongoing crackdown on tax dodgers is targeting regular eBay traders and those who buy items to sell them on at a profit. If you are a regular eBay trader and haven’t been declaring your income it may lead to a very unpleasant surprise. It is believed that HMRC have written to 32,500 people who haven’t paid all the tax they owe. From May 3rd letters should land on doormats which will allow eBay traders the chance to pay up now and benefit from reduced penalties. If sellers fail to come forward and HMRC has evidence they have not paid the right amount of tax, they will be hit with a much higher tax penalty and could face potential criminal proceedings. Those who fail to come forward by the 14th June deadline outlined in the letter face a penalty of between 40% and 100% of the tax due, as opposed to just 10% or 20% if they put things right now. eBay traders are the latest group to be targeted by HMRC, which has previously had in its sights plumbers, doctors, dentists, home tutors, market stall holders, car sales people and those with money offshore. Marian Wilson, head of HMRC Campaigns, said: “This campaign is part of a wider HMRC initiative to provide support and guidance to the public on tax evasion and is aimed at people using online marketplaces to buy and sell goods as a trade or business and who fail to pay the tax owed.

Final value fees on coins is 10% plus PP fees 3.5% This will no doubt rise when people stop listing shortly. Maybe this is the reason Mr X has stopped listing on his eBay name to.

How ironic, a Mr Charles Green the former Sheffield Utd owner has taken over at Rangers from a Mr Whyte, making it Mr Green and Whyte which should please the Celtic fans no end in their ongoing banter with the Govan end of Glasgow -

azda, i sincerely hope that you and peckris both understand that my posts were meant in good faith and also meant to differentiate between the bad that occurs on ebay, those you have highlighted as shill bidders, those who clearly sell the utmost of polished crap, designed to mislead, and the genuine dealer, whom may have had a difference in grading to personal levels. we may all disagree on grade of a particular coin at times with bona fida dealers, that happens, we have different ideas and ideals, different knowledge of a specific coin/dies....etc etc, but it sure must be difficult to be all embracing. azda....how many times have you come on here to ask for die pairings/references for a particular penny.....loads azda....how many times have you asked for a grading on a particular coin...................................loads does that make you or any other here better than CC or Rendell........maybe yes, maybe no. but yes it does make YOU and Peckris and CC and Rendell and all the others here far and away better than the those shill bidders, crap sellers on ebay...........and that was the whole point of my original post....... im gonna leave this forum now................theres clearly no place for a prick like me here. ski I wouldn't worry, ski. There will always be disagreements with people even in the most (normally) harmonious of settings. Doesn't mean they're by default right, and you're wrong. Sometimes they will be and sometimes you will be. Sometimes you will both be half right and half wrong. Whichever, it's not worth putting yourself down and leaving for, as it will all be forgotten in a few days anyway. If you have something to say, say it, and if it happens to upset someone, then tough do dahs. It's life, it's the way it is. You should see many of the comments made and insults exchanged on some forums. Makes the worst of what you see on here look like a Sunday School outing. That's the trouble with fora, a timid gutless coward all of a sudden grows a pair the size of watermelons as he sits at his computer 2000 miles away from the poor recipient of the hurtful dirge. As Mike said Ski, divn't worry aboot it marra. I've got skin thicker than a Rhinos arse so you or anybody else might get me revved up for a minute or two but after that I start to worry about more important things like "can Newcastle stuff the Toffees the day?" Pardew deserved the Manager of the year award. Wonder what that numpty will do now though (Ashley) probably sack his most successful Manager in 10 years -
