Most of the world has a climate, we have weather There's no such thing as the wrong weather just the wrong cloths Unfortunately there's not many Tarzans in this jungle who wear cloths these days. A big wooly jumper is sufficient. I'll keep my leapord skin loin cloth for the bedroom

Maybe when you' ve finished with the shillings you can start on the £1 coins, apparently there's 14 million of them in the UK, or was it 40 million? Anyway, that should keep you out of trouble for another few years -

Maybe take a good look at the ebay seller ID and see what you spot. To give you a little hint, there's a * in the name, so i would'nt trust that price what so ever You've got me there, Azda, what do you mean? If it was shill bidded, there's still £33 to pay in fees! And why bid up your own item that high, surely it suggests there was still someone willing to pay over £300? As I said, though, the coin may well have been UNC, but without having it in hand, and no talk in the description about lustre, etc, I couldn't even conceive of a bid at half of what it went for! That was one of the sellers with whom there was more than a whiff of collusion between him and other eBay sellers with similarly styled names. The coin definitely looks to be a proof though, not a currency piece. Correct on all counts Nick

How do I know if my coin is an original or copy?
azda replied to Paulo's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
"Restrike" and "original" are not the right terms for a coin that was never out of production for over 200 years. According to the article seuk submitted and i quote "Various articles claim that the Maria Theresa Thaler was re-struck with an unchanged appearance since 1780. However, this is only really true for restrikes made after about 1850. Don't shoot the messanger -

Do you think people are going to get burnt from these high prices, or do you think this is how things are going to be in the future? Are the British coins now playing catch up with the Americans? It does seem a lot of money 4x over book, but if you ever watch Heritage auctions you'll see some crazy prices for British coins there also

VF Double florin for £145!
azda replied to Oxford_Collector's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Oh well, you can console yourself with the fact that "only" 125 members of the public will get ripped off. Or, if Coincraft buy them all and add their own versions to boost sales, it could be 5,000... My neighbour is from Essex somewhere and knows the guy who owns coincraft, apparently he's an American? Who is? Your neighbour in Munchen from Essex or the guy who owns Coincraft? Either way what's that got to do with 20% going onto the price of hot pies in Blighty? Correct, my neighbour is from Essex who lives 2 storeys above me, and apparently they're quite good buddies. The neighbour is a note collector.......I'll be taking a looksy at his notes soon Ps a Oner is also a ton where i came from....... -
