Someone here mentioned that PCGS and NGC only use one grader for each submission, not according to this walkthrough, they use 3. Anyway, as much as i'm getting from the video is that it's based on opinion and no exact science behind a grade, so if anyone wants to send me $30 and their coin i'll happily give you a grade, i'll get the wife to give me a 2nd opinion before i send it back

AU 55 is GVF, only at AU58 does the British EF grading begin

Funnily enough I had a few coins in at PCGS Paris this week, a couple of silver proofs and a couple of gold coins. The proofs came back on Wednesday as MS and 1 of my MS coins has come back as a proof. Doesn’t fill you with much confidence

Cameo or not ? Be wary !
azda replied to secret santa's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
It wasn’t a mistake, they were told they weren’t proof coins on numerous occasions but went ahead anyway with the designation, it was only after one came into their hands that wasn’t proof like that they started changing the designation to BU, or the MS grade -

Cameo or not ? Be wary !

Unfortunately NGC and PCGS graded these £5 as Proofs when they were in actual fact released as BU coins. NGC have graded quite a few as proof along with the strike on the day sovereign but have since stopped the proof designation after releasing they were in fact BU struck coins but the damage was already done. The RM had released some of these coins with a COA that stated proof on it and after realising their error sent out letters asking to swap the COAs out for a correct one stating BU. 3 coins were released at the same time, 5 sovereign, a Piedfort Sovereign and the strike on the day sovereign, only the Piedfort was struck as proof, coincidently, a proof is struck 6 times and not 3, , specimens are struck 3 times and BU once. Attached is my piedfort designated PF70DCAM -

Lots of eye appeal -
I have 2 Queen Anne sixpences for sale graded by PCGS as MS62 Roses and Plumes and Plumes REVs. The R&P is the finest known graded at this moment in time by PCGS. MS62 according to the crossover scale by Londoncoins would equal to UNC or near so. Tony Claytons website lists these at £450 in EF each and a recent DNW sale sold a R&P in EF for £650 on the 15th March auction 140 lot number 377, open to offers on these 2 coins, just PM me

Interesting, didn't realise there was another in the pipeline, i believe the updated Marsh is already out? It combines both half and full. Which Clive is the author?

It ended up like that because it was the first in a new series and a relatively small mintage, the 2nd coin came out to a shark pool type frenzy with actual queuing on the RM website of 84,000 people, problem being most were buying to make a quick buck and it basically flopped a few days later, so now the greed merchants who bought 5 or 6 are stuck with something they don't actually want
