  1. Just found the Chas shilling on my photobucket account that i sent to Rob, very nice indeed
  2. Nice bog head! Wonder whether cargo was bullion or coin Rumour has it the cargo was 1903 & 05 Halfcrowns...that would worry a couple of Chinese manufacturers. Interesting that the announcement of this find, which totals some 200 tons of silver, almost immediately depressed the bullion price for silver by about 20%. The price went from around £25 per troy ounce to £20 almost in an instant. 200 tons? it must have sunk fast. It states it was sunk in 1941 so it might not be .925 silver, it could be that its .500.........Still holding over half a Kilo of .925 myself, just waiting for the right time. anyone with a crystal ball?

  4. The coin i most enjoyed was the 1905 Halfcrown, i had it several days lol, but just to own a decent and original coin of that year was pretty amazing. Unfortunately for me, it was way out of my price league for the time being and was merely bought to sell on, the wife did enjoy the 1200 euro profit though, i think i saw about 100 of that I also really liked the one i had purchased for Rob from Germany, a shilling i think it was (Rob might show it again) Really nice coin. I actually wanted it for myself, but at the time it was to much for me, i had showed Rob the dealers gallery pics and he also liked it, so i snapped it up for him before anyone else got it, plus €50 off the asking price as i'd dealt with the dealer before.
  5. It must be amazing when money is no object and buy exactly what you want (coin wise) I don't know where i'd start if i had that sort of money At 300 Million, it must have been a decent business
  6. This thread has taken over the boards lol. I was reading the reply Rob left regarding prices at St James auction, so i have yet another curious question (it is personal so it's up to you if you want to answer or not) Whats the most anyone here has paid for a coin. I've personally paid 1500 and was sweating, so i can't imagine what someone who's paid the 150K Rob earlier mention must be feeling, think i'd need a bottle of vallium (for the wife after i pick her up off the floor) BTW, i love the detailed answers given by members on the forum, it makes this forum worthwhile looking at.
  7. 1927 to 1936 reverse has the shorter thumb (as does the "1927" 1922) Long thumb, almost touching St george's cross is the norm for 1911 to 1926 David Thanks David
  8. Lol, you are of course correct ski
  9. You THINK its overpriced David lol, its definately overpriced. 50 quid coin,

selling off large collection of coins

Nice to see you here, although i'm thinking that you're more here to ply your wares other than have an interest in collecting, but hey ho. Maybe if you do well out of the sales, you can maybe find a keyboard with a caps lock lol. Just took a quick look at your ebay, you want to charge a tenner to post international for a worn sixpence , lets be honest, it's never gonna cost that much in reality surely? Thats a bit OTT eh? It also looks like some of the silver coins have been polished unfortunately. The 1887 double Florin looks a likely candidate

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I would'nt touch his stuff with a bargepole to be honest. His grading is appaling. He had one up a few moths back at MS70. Not even PCGS have graded anything at that grade.

  14. Ok As some of you may know its the wee guys birthday Next week and have been looking around for nice early date sovs or a rarish types As i believe they will hold their value Even if bullion prices go down. I have My eye on 2 so far and in order to try and get them i've listed a couple of My pennies ob ebay As i'm but a poor engineer and have a wife to So My question is, out of theae 2 (1863 sov roman 1 in date and 1832 high grade) which would be the best option as there's no way i could go for both.
  15. I'm going to agree with Pecks theory based on that the toning is sitting far to nicely on the shields etc. Its certainly not unattractive, just a little odd why its just on those raised areas
  16. Yes - I left it out since my gold copy don't have this error. None the less Seuk, it should be noted so others can see what they are looking for.
  17. The bottom serif of the I in DEI looks buggered to, far to fat. In fact, the only I that looks right is the I in GRATIA
  18. I had one of these about 14 months ago, it was very convincing but as yours is, it was rotated 180 degrees, also the background lines in the quadrent where the 3 lions are went through the tail, the lines should'nt go through the tail.

    Full set of pennies

Think that would depend on the grades Peck, 1827s are never normally seen above VF grade
