  1. The only piece NGC has graded but i'm sure other 3rd grading companies will have graded a similar coin, you can look up population reports for PCGS and CGS, but i have seen a few of these. Still, a nice coin and there is a thread called coin aquisition of the week with 115 pages of latest aquisitions
  2. Definately 8/7 the down stroke of the 7 is quite visible through the 2 loops of the 8. Will you be selling it now
  3. Minus the 10% ebay fee the listing fee and Paypal surcharge, so it wil be even less than that unfortunately. I'd be interested to hear what the other coins are if its not to much trouble, perhaps to many to list?
  4. I'm wondering if you meant Cayenne or Caymen........Cayenne being the 4x4 that Chris probably thought you were talking about, the Caymen being a nifty little 2 seater

And for gods sake, DO NOT PART WITH THE SILVER COINS, they have bullion value, if they have no numis value then just pop them in a jar for years down the road. Silver is sky high right now, so if its pre 1920 do not part with it. ??? so u saying it will go up in price? i was selling the silver not just giving it away If "Silver is sky high right now" (which it is) then now IS THE RIGHT TIME TO SELL!!! Always sell when the market is rising high - those of us with longer memories can recall what happened after 1980-81 (the last time the silver market went sky high) - it collapsed spectacularly back to its former levels and didn't recover for years. I believe the Labour government sold our Gold at what they thought was a sky high price, lost the economy quite a bit of Geld i believe Chancellor Peckris lol. Hold onto the silver bullion hello17

From not a rich Scotsman (i have a wife you know) i'd still keep hold of the silver, add to it if you can, junk coins etc, no numis value other than bullion. 2 theories Hello17......1 you are young enough to collect the scrap for a while and 2 you are young enough to get ripped for the bullion value. What you were thinking of selling, don't. Stick it in a jar and keep hold of it Peter, what have you in scrap for sale in silver?
  7. Just thought i'd add a photobucket picture of the 1844 farthing. I also noticed a small spike in the trident, about a 1/3 the way up, not sure if thats the norm.

I think the Edward I silver penny grade might be optimistic
  11. Also interesting that 3ds are also considered Maundy types and still valid lol
  12. Some of you laugh when i'm using my iphone and texting on here due to the words being all wrong. Here is a website dedicated to those baddddddd autocorretcs that the iphone does when making word suggestion. Check out the 3rd text down this page, it had me laughing while trying to read it to the woman http://damnyouautocorrect.com/page/3/ .
  13. So is last nights farthing going to be defined As a variety Colin?
  14. Lol, ONLY GEF Bob, at least you have one. It was a nice looking coin though, was that about as expected for an 1844? Is that also the first time 1 missing Colon has been noted on an 1844? Is Colin going to have to do more variety work on his website now? Well done Dave As far as I'm concerned that is clear.(not noted by Peck,Bramah,Freeman et all)or me although I haven't studied many (I got a lower grade one many years ago and haven't sought to improve...both top stops are less prominant) My guess before the auction would of been £600.Lets hope 1/4d's don't go the way of Buns Once Colin publishes the market will rocket...and yes if I had spotted the FID.I might have gone to Mrs Peter for a release of funds. Well at least you now know that there is a variety of sorts out there for the 1844 and my guess is, that whoever bought it also saw the missing colon which in turn sent the coin spiraling into the unknown.
  15. Lol, Colin will be pulling his hair out

  17. Maybe the fact that there was only 1 COLON after FID pushed the price farthing boys Betcha didn't notice that till i mentioned it Its ok, the penny man will keep quiet that you farthing boys missed that HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE MISSING COLONNNNNNNNNNNNNNN IN FID
  18. I'm going to Pack in collecting, i'm seriously pissed of with what i've seen by some sellers and have decoded enough is enough, wankers like Martin Platt and his alter egos will spoil my enjoyment of this hobby. Those of you who are unaware of what goes on then feel free to ask, but i for one have had enough and intend to sell off what i have. Its been fun and learned a lot from this forum, and spoke with many knowledgable minds. Thanks.
  19. Sorry It was also obvious it had to be a farthing man Take a look at the Farthing i've put in the coin aquisition of the week, 1773, seems as though the B is over R in BRITANNIA
  20. That was'nt insultive hello17, the man in question is the sort of type new collectors like you need to avoid, and my few words there were not harsh enough, trust me, never buy from this man on ebay when you're old enough to start paying taxes. i have rarely trusted ebay ... i just wait by staring at my penias I'm hoping he meant Pennies

  22. Unfortunately i got shafted by a dealer on your side of the pond, ebay seller name jeffone. Ripped me off for $200, said he'd sent a coin to an address i wanted him to ship in the USA, he uploaded the track number, and after a week and nothing i contacted him about it, he said it had been delivered and sent me a tracking number along with the email. I could'nt check util i got home, but the tracking numbers were different I contacted ebay and they did f all because it was'nt paid by PP, and now the fat t**t is sitting with $200 of my money is his Madrid account and my effing coin
  23. Yes i know i have an ongoing debate, but i spotted this and thought i'd open another can of worms, a fisherman can never have to many worms Colin, i have'nt bought it, your territory is safe, i saw this and thought it looked strange. Ok, so what am i looking at? Well 1st of all, the A in VICTORIA looks smaller than the rest of the lettering, i'm posting 2 gallery pictures, OBV+REV and OBV enlarged. The 2nd thing was the T in BRITANNIAR seems to be missing the top serif. I've rotated the OBV picture, did you guess that already? Over to the boffins.
  24. Ok, apologies in advance for the size Peckris, but require it for the correct attribution. Both Florins are the same year 1877, 1 had stop after date, one doesn't. As far as i can see, there's no WW or die numbers on either, so can anyone help with correct ESC/SPINK numbers please. Edit: die 68 on the 1st one
