Well cleaned! Is that our friend? He gives a new meaning to "cleaning up". Yup it is, so its the bestest coin of that year you'll ever see, until he gets another that is and drops it in the silver dip by accident etc etc etc That one wasn't dipped! Silver dip leaves a dull appearance, but that one has been well and truly polished. Dipped/polished, its never in a million years seen aunc

Well he apparently knows more than CGS to, slabbed coin by them He Sold last week, according to him was better than the CGS attribution, even in a slab he can attribute it far better than CGS could with a raw coin. He is an amazing man

You may well be right. It's difficult to be certain of the situation simply by looking at the bidding and the feedback (or lack of it). Maybe informing buyers (if they can be identified) afterwards is the way to spread the knowledge. At least half a dozen of the coins currently on offer come from last week's Spink auction and have all been overgraded by MP. Lol, Nick, EVERYTHING he gets is upped by at least 1 grade so he can rip the arse out of the coin, it may take years for some of those coins to actually be valued at what these poor people will eventually pay, it's a bit like negative equity in housing, but just in coins now.............Honestly i wish peo´ple would waken up, and before anybody sticks their oar in, i know its not you or i being ripped off, but this makes an arse of the whole collecting scene and might piss people off enough to just give up collecting Th wiining bidder of the wreath is brianscoins, so bidders can always be identified
-
The problem being Tom is his constant overgrading to enhance the price, as we've seen before from him regarding an 1869 penny he sold at the beginning of the year, bought as an EF from auction, listed as UNC by him, there's quite a difference in price between those 2 grades, he paid EF book price at auction and made a grand because he upped the grade. How he can get away with calling that wreath crown AUNC when its blatantly poloished and a huge dig in the OBV and a rim nick is beyond me, some people really want ripping off from him thats for sure Regarding this particular buyer Nick, he has bought a few things from MP, including the 1869 i have mentioned, although i heard through the grapevine he sent it back because MP had upped the grade, someone had pointed him to the auction where MP bought it from This is how contacts are made, how did surrey coins and victoria bronze also get mixed up in the shill bidding with him? Strange why someone would bid and win on all but 1 auction of his though
-
If you look at Mr Ps other auctions, the same person is winning 99% of them, i wonder how many he ACTUALLY wins, if any I'm not saying he's a shill bidder, buttttttttttttttttttt

This one is a beauty though, choice near UNC, after a bit of spit and polish, not forgetting the huge dig on the OBV etc, some muppet will buy it, GVF after cleaning http://cgi.ebay.com/1936-GEORGE-V-WREATH-CROWN-EXTREMELY-RARE-/330583898897?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item4cf855fb11

Welcome to the forum mtwc. I have recently found Warwick to be a lost cause for me and haven't bid for 3 sales now. Their low estimates aren't a problem for me, it's the inexplicable prices that are being achieved on low grade milled crap. I hope you enjoyed the ashes series (both of the last 2) as much as I did ;-) Just for Azda (that's cricket Dave, a game played by gentlemen, oh and Aussies) I'd rather watch Newcastle UTD than cricket, better still, watching paint dry would be more exciting Dave, for a man whose nations greatest sporting achievements involve sweeping a sheet of ice infront of a stone with a handle fixed to it, I'll treat your sports knowledge with the contempt it deserves! We are merely a small population of 5 Million plus 2 million sheep, compared to your 37 Million plus 14 million pakistanis and 9 million Poles, your achievements in the sporting world should surpass ours natrually, i'm still waiting for the one thing that the English always come up with..............

By the way, how did your tennis boy get on against the Spaniard? Our Tennis boy did better than ermmmmmm (how many English boys) actually got so far? I believe Mr Murray has done better in his short career than most of your English boys in their entire careers I bet if he won it though he'd be British, but because he's out now he's Scottish

My collection at a glance

Mine aren't online except what I've posted in these forums. But, if the Tantalus grid is available to all users, then given time I could upload a representative selection to my own version of the grid. Do you have the URL, where we could get started? -
But how can you get better than BU? Oh wait, add a plus lol
-
Hello and welcome. This is whats commonly known as ghosting.

azda replied to declanwmagee's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I'd say cleaned for starters -
I wouldn't be surprised if he bought the 1869 + the 1864, for a negotiated price of $2000 for the pair. Time will tell Mike

The Great Scottish Weather
azda replied to azda's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Lol, My point is that it looked like the ice age, in June, in what was supposed to Be Scotlands most best city for sunshine apparently :-/ -
From JMBs pics the toning does look uneven, maybe the reason he took pics in the dark lol
-
In order for MP to make any profit from that sale JB would have to have come down quite a distance on that 1869, at the very least $300 just to break even on the figure that MP Sold it for and there's not many dealers who'd come down that distance for such a key date in that grade
