    Mint Error Farthing

    Die cracks are pretty common
  2. I tried changing the values but it wouldn't overwrite them, although for now i'm using the free trial, so perhaps thats it
  3. My family variation on that was 'enough blue to make a sailor a pair of trousers'. Yes, we were told the sailor variant also - except it was 'mend' in both cases, not 'make' (perhaps it was a smaller patch of blue sky? ) My mother always said "It's going to be sunny if there's enough sky to make an Englishman's trousers" followed by "Bloody Englishmen". This was all in Welsh of course. See, i knew the Welsh had a dislike of English (see my other post in newbie)

Lol, yes, but it was 20 years ago ish

    Another newbie.

Welcome Sion, i used to live in Cardiff for a while then up the Rhondda near Tonypandy, nice part of the world, although the Welsh dislike the English, which me and a friend of mine found out while out at the local nightclub one night on Cardiff Queen Street, us being Scottish were quite confused but we still kicked their arses
  6. Downloaded the free trial I can add a coin and picture, but don't appear to be able to have a type not listed in Krause, So only one type of 1860 1d beaded border. Can have hollow neck 1911 1/2d but not the penny. Very frustrating, I'll have another play later David Downloaded the trial version also, i think their prices are a little out though. What do you get with the full version, whats different? Had a little play with it myself, it seems good, my only issue is with its pricing on coin values which cannot be changed
  7. Genuine? Why the ??? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190481745455&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D%2B190481745455%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  8. Just got this and i'm hoping its the one i'm thinking of, the Spink number is 3867A or so i'm hoping. I like the wording next to it, "Extremely Rare" hence opinions needed as there are 2 of the same year, the 3867B, but this one says the G of DG is closer to the crown, which this doesn't look to be, but then again i haven't seen one.
  9. Just wondering, because if they're not, then how far off are they. Personally the 1874 i would have said was BUNC, but just my opinion

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

So here's another one he's about to unload to an Aussie. I think the worst thing is, that we know what he does, and have a fair good incling that he shill bids, yet we can't do sweet FA about it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330511200274&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D330511200274%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Here is the bid retraction/cancellation history on that coin... Bidder Action / Explanation Date of Bid and Retraction private listing -- bidders identities protected Retracted: £1,600.00 Explanation:Entered wrong amount Bid:24-Dec-10 23:13:06 GMT Retracted: 26-Dec-10 16:50:49 GMT private listing -- bidders identities protected Retracted: £4.50 Explanation:Entered wrong amount Bid:22-Dec-10 13:32:59 GMT Retracted: 22-Dec-10 13:54:01 GMT private listing -- bidders identities protected Retracted: £1,688.00 Explanation:Entered wrong amount Bid:25-Dec-10 13:14:51 GMT Retracted: 26-Dec-10 10:18:28 GMT So basically he's retracted his own bids down to the next serious bidder who was at 1400GBP, i mean lets be honest how many times have you seen 3 retracted bid on the same item, 2 in the same day?
  12. Krause doesn't know that much about Pennies then as Spink has it at 750GBP in fine as there is only a handful known

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Basically its down to shill bidding and greed. This man isn't content with a 100 bux profit on a coin, he wants 100s and His greed will eventually Be his downfall, cos any man knows that, that is never a 1500GBP coin

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I See that Classic british coins 1860 penny has took yet another tumble, its lost 200 quid since yesterday, wish all sellers were like that lol, but very strange

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

He's certainly had one dissatisfied German buyer, who'd obviously bought a coin described as UNC but less so in hand However, he says he's UK based ~ Greater Manchester. The "Adolf" comment may or may not mean he's German, but it's certainly very unpleasant. Difficult to retaliate without ramping up the problem to the buyer's own detriment. I'd love one of those to be for real. Sincerely hope your gamble has paid off on this occasion, Dave. Realistically, I wouldn't hold my breath, but good luck !!! Well me either, but as a collector, can you pass it up?

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Well now isn't that strange, that 1860 Penny from Classic British Coins has actually gone DOWN 100 quid since yesterday, it stood at 1650, now 1550.............Something is afoot

Agreed! but also the whole area beneath the lighthouse is also weak, the appears to be no L in LCW My Freeman 6 is in lousy condition but a much better strike also is it my imagination, or is a there slight difference in the position of Britannia's thumb relative to St Georges cross?? David The thumb does look vaguely different. Although whether it's because all the other fingers are worn to a flat indistinguishable from each other, blur, I don't know. That doesn't look like a thumb, more like a crabs claw

I think his 6 negatives in 6 months says it all. He does sound German though, as his spelling of Rare (RAR) is the German Spelling, then his answer to one of his negatives with reference to Adolf lol, i'd stay clear, if no one else has seen one of these already i'd think his eyes are playing tricks on him, or else just BS to get rid of it not caring about another negative. Saying that though, i indulged in an 1882 (No H) just to satisfy my own curiosity, the seller said NO H??? so again, perhaps i've been stung and if so and i can visibly see an H without a lupe or scope, then his neutral will be forthcoming, but if there is no H then

    Digital Microscopes

Normally i keep boxes but can't seem to find the one for the scope. Although Maplin is a good place for these type of things, the details i have on the scope is that its a Traveler Model No SU 1071 This next part is on the underside on the label. Supra Foto-Elektronik-Vertriebs-GMBH Deinstraße 28A 67663 Kaiserslautern Hotline 0049 631 3428441 Maybe look up the company, perhaps they sell through their own website, although no website is mentioned on the scope itself

Actually it had ended by the time I got round to messaging him, but by none of us doing so we are our own worst enemies. If everybody messaged sellers mis-describing their coins, then its incidence, although unlikely to be totally eliminated, would at least dramatically reduce. Yes there are many instances of it on e-bay, but that doesn't make it right. I know it's a bit heavy for something as minor as this, but to quote Edmund Burke; 'All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing'. Q.E.D. And i agree with you Red, although it being Christmas, do wars stop during xmas? No!!!! If you 2 ladies wish to stuff your wives like a Turkey then am sure they'd be pleased with your comment, although they might find the stuffing a little old and dry by the time you next get to stuff your Turkeys after that
