    Ebay's Worst Offerings

must have been happy then! Well here's my theory. I reckon that classic british coins is actually shill bidding as he knows people with deep pockets, hence the fact all his auctions are now private, why else would a coin with a value of only 850 be now at double book price, it makes no sense and isn't an ultra rare coin, just my theory anyway
  2. Your from Indy Bob, used to date a girl around that area Quite a southern drawl she had to

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Are those up to Date Gouby prices David? As we've seen so many time, bunheads in Top grades are flying at the moment. Spink however lists it at 875GBP but even now its double Book price, so even i'm Not getting why this price has virtually doubled Spinks estimate
  5. Should be approx. 28.4g. As it is likely that only one or two (if any) 1934 crowns found their way to China, then any defects to the original coin will be repeated on the reproduction. Essentially the process used is for the forger to employ the genuine coin as a hub from which he then cuts a die and ultimately copy coins from that die. For this reason, many of the copies are far from high grade and can be as low as fine. Unfortunately I do not know the particulars of any 1934 forgeries but someone else on here may know, failing that a search of the internet might yield an answer. Incidentally, there was a previous wave of forgeries emenating from the Middle East. I have now weighed the crown as advised and I am pleased to say it weighed 28.3g. Which hopefully is within the tolerance of the accepted weight of this crown and the weighing scales. With all your advice, I shall now consider my next move. Thank you for your help. Out of interest, which area of the country are you in? I'm in the East Of England Chris, the owner of this site might be able to help you should you decide to sell or require help in that direction.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Buhead prices going crazy especially for top Grades. If you check spink there is 16 beaded varieties listed out of those, half Run into 4 figures in unc and only 3 are less than 500 in unc, so its Safe to assume its the die pairing of the coin

    Digital Microscopes

The one i bought was only 30 euros from Aldi, it does what it has to, which is looking for that overstrike, i use it for nothing else, also the capture button is a mouse click away. I mentioned to ski yesterday that Lidl in the UK were selling one (don't know what its like) as a friend of mine was telling me just the other day. I don't know if you haveone of the cheap German supermarkets near you Colin, but if you have, it might be worth popping in on the off chance.
  11. It looks AUNC to me, though the pictures are rather small. As to value, if it's not Chinese then you're looking at a minimum of about £3000 but possibly quite a bit more at auction. Thank you for your prompt reply,I did manage to upgrade the photographs eventually. I don't know if you looked at these when giving your opinion or my first photographs which were of poor quality. The 4 crowns I considered of good quality were all purchased from a very reliable source and hopefully are not chinese. Can you or someone else please explain how one can tell if the coin is of chinese origin , having just joined the forum i'm not up to speed on these issues yet. The 1st step would be weight (not sure what this should be) but if its within tolerance then 2nd step for me personally would be a reputable dealer for more authentication. I'd go along with Peckris on the grade though, so if you do take it to a dealers you at least know its value and if he makes you an offer it should be a couple of 100 short of book price as these are quite rare and do sell.
  12. A Nice Pair! (To quote a certain 1970s record company...). Would it be rude to ask how much they cost? (I'm in the market for similar bun penny items providing not too expensive). I pm'd you Peckris
  13. Yes peckris i did, obviously a coin aquisition to :-)

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Ski, if you go onto Colin Cookes website and look at part 2 of the Workman sale there was a 26 ME in that sale, in fact, here it is. Now you can see the difference between an ebay sellers AU and a real AU
  18. Can't see an H personally, it might Be lurking under the ceap tho
  19. Well, here was my 1st Penny, i thought was BU but now UNC, unless someone says AUNC lol
  20. Both images are what i have actually bought....... I bought both for future sale, when both are in hand, i'll offer hi res images as usual as i have no fear of what i buy, i buy because i hope that they go home eventually
  21. But yet they cannot be called BU, i wonder if at certain times we're being harsh towards grading. As coins get older is it possible to keep them in mint preserved states. As a coin gets older should the preserved states of certain periods of grades go upwards? I hope you undestand what i mean. Sometimes Spink don't list a coin above VF or EF grades, what happens if something comes along in a higher grade outwith what Spink has listed, how do we value that?
  22. So the 74 is nowhere near BU, personally i thought it wasn't far short black stain apart, so what is the criteria for BU and has anyone got anything of this age in BU?
