    Gap Filler

It looks quite strange how the rim has a silver look yet the coin itself the look of iron. It would worry me enough not to touch it with a barge pole

    Gap Filler

Looks cast to me, not even a bit of shimmer on it. A join on the rim would tell also. It has a look of iron
  3. Its quite small, can you enlarge it a little?
  4. Thought i'd post this one, it has to be the ugliest medal i've ever seen, and what a REV eh Obviously a masons medal and quite racist to
  5. Already done so John, phoned Michael yesterday and its on its way. Problem with Freemans is the pictures are B&W and quite small to see the detail, so i had been wanting Michaels new one for a while, so bit the bullet and got it.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

You forgot to tell us about the strong rubbing lustre on the coin Dave. Lol, i only want to buy the hole John, not the coin, its the best hole ever He's wrong I'm afraid. I'll just quote the late great Richard Burton in Where Eagles Dare "A hole is a hole is a hole as they say" I was going to watch that last weekend, but opted for Kellys Heros instead. Where Eagles Dare this weekend me thinks
  11. The man is a complete twat. With a name like styx collectables, it is entirely appropriate that he likes holes. Lol good one Rob...........On a lighter note, i've just invested in Michael Goubys reworked Penny book. Looking forward to going through it. Might slow down on the purchases until after or during xmas now, unless something really good comes along
  12. Ok, just for you 400, here is the ebay link, look at the guys description of his holed coin, he likes the hole more than the coin, and i was saying i might ask him if i could buy the hole instead of the coin because the hole is the best hole you could possibly have in a coin Read on http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110596946068&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D110596946068%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

A little rundown on this, it actually did make me laugh. A holed coin, please please please read this guys description of the holed Penny, i think he gives more time in describing this beautiful hole than he does of the coin itself http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110596946068&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D110596946068%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 HAHAHAHAHAHA "if a coin has to be holed i'd choose this hole" this truly is a gem of a hole, one of Ebays best lines EVER, christ i might just buy the hole and tell him to keep the coin, it really is a beautiful hole though
  18. I was watching that one as well Beebman, a bit above my price range right now though
  19. Yes Tom i believe a lot more people are investing in coins instead of putting it into banks, thus pushing prices upwards, i wonder if it will all end in tears like the housing markets and banks collapsing. I have my eye on a little something, so fingers crossed and we'll see how it goes later, whatch this space (or at least coin aquisition of the week )
  20. Very handsome. Victorian, would you say? I don't think so Peck as it would have been called a Nachprägung in German which it wasn't, so i'm assuming an original.
  21. On the subject of medals, here's a nice old piece i found. 1641 Charles I.......72mm and 94.28g
  22. If you cpmpare the E in ET it looks like the H in HIB is the same albeit with a leg added, perhaps after they spotted the error? If you or anyone has another to compare the the Es and Hs of the same denomination? If you eliminate the leg of the H, then it certainly looks like the 1st E in ET
