  1. And if you were in any doubt about the undated 20p, i will agree with the previous 2 posts, overhyped by people trying to make a huge fast buck, some did in the beginning but now they have levelled out and a pristine example is only worth around 40-60 pounds. I think it would be much better to keep the older stuff. Looking forward to seeing some scans though
  2. Welcome Tim, a picture always paints a 100 words but it does sound strange that the date reads 1969

    1575 Sixpence

i have to be honest, i did'nt realise a coin should smell. What should it smell off and am i paying to much for mine that don't smell?
  4. Yes you are right Fubar, both coins seem the same, if you look at the REV to the right of the date there is a small light scratch and the same scratch appears in both auctions, so no idea what he's playing at, whether it's a mistake or whatever Yes, you're right, good spot. Well, I can't think of a scenario in which this has a happy ending, sadly.... Nope me either, although i did send an email and asked if there was some mistake in the listing because he's selling the same coin twice
  5. If you could do me a favour and hit Health and Safety afterwards, full of absolute hot air, the UK has gone H&S mad, it's amazing any work gets done, it must take 7 and a half hours to put the safety equiptment on, then 30 mins lunch then finished for the day, ABSOLUTE IDIOTS rant over

  7. unless he's using the same pictures to sell 1901 Pennies. Check out my new aquistion, arrived today and is in the coin aquisition of the week thread
  8. This part of your reply 1949 (Another possibility is that he has photoshopped a normal 1936, to look anomalous, again attracting possible customers. Maybe it's his only way of offloading 1936 pennies) I believe that he hasn't done this but believe that he's spotted the possible 1 due to the fact he's told me to keep the coin he sent me and is refunding me the money i paid, so would suggest something else
  9. Yes unfortunately this seems to be the case 400, although the guy i bought the 1901 3D penny from seems to have 2 more of the same looking coin listed which i find rather strange. They can be seen here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VICTORIA-ONE-PENNY1901-/250673491566?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item3a5d4dee6e and here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1901-VICTORIA-PENNY-HIGH-GRADE-/250672865991?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item3a5d4462c7
  10. Unfortunately i'd rather not say Tom, due to the fact that in Germany they have the American mentality where they will sue if you look at them the wrong way. Here's one scenario for you, they now have lawyers who scour ebay for anyone who's used someone elses pictures or text in their ebay listing. There was a case when someone had resold something but used the previous ebay text and pix, he was sucessfully sued for 700 euros. Thats the downside of living in Germany unfortunately
  11. He does have a fair few English coins John, more than i would say was normal for a German dealer, maybe around a few hundred. i think his English coins outweigh everything else he has for sale from different countries. So it might be possible that he reads the boards, although his English isn't that great. Well it was obviously a lesson for me, but he said in an email to me that what he puts up for sale is not always what is for sale, it was in his German Terms of Sale, but what i would say is, why photograph a coin if its not the actual coin you're buying? Ususally a German dealer would state if he has more than a few of the same year coin (diverse Jahrgang) but this did not state this, but as i said, a lesson learned, he also said he will now refuse to sell to me again (big deal i say, there's a million dealers in this world)
  12. Was it an actual dealer or an ebay dealer Dave? If it was a dealer it is highly unlikely he would use a stock photo for a coin in that grade. I must admit I do use them myself, but only on stuff like proofs and GEF/A UNC coins where the only differences are location of bag marks. It was a German dealer John, he's emailed and said it was sold out, but thats impossible, i've used him before and when you buy a coin there's no way you can buy it again, it says the coin is ausverkauft (sold out) so it would be impossible to even click on it then buy it and pay for it all in the same day, which is what i did, so as i said, i believe he's either seen what i did or he's read the boards
  13. No 400 it has'nt and am getting rather stressed about it now as he sent it last Tuesday, so if its gone awol in the post that would make 2 rarities i've lost, including the 1936 penny which the dealer said was actually sold, but i don't believe a word of it. Not a happy bunny today. The thing is, i bought a 1900 Viccy penny on Sunday and it arrived today, so i'm a little agitated now
  14. Well he gave me a scenario that he had many of these blah blah blah, but not according to his website. Am more than sure that 1 he's spotted it himself when getting it ready to send, or 2 he's read the boards, either way i'm not finished with it. I want the coin i paid for. I even sent him the lagernumber of the coin, so he can't say he can't find it etc. Another email will be sent today when i have time.

    Where is our leader?

I've not seen or heard Chris for ages, anyone else? The reason i'm asking is that there seems to be a few spammers on the board, which i've reported but no answer or clean up of the spamming. Come back Chris, all is forgiven
  16. Dealers Gallery pic once more
  17. Ok, am a little cheesed off. The dealer has sent me a completely different coin and i'm seriously not amused. Dealers gallery pic and the one he's sent here. If you look at the OBV pic i took, you can see dirt inbetween EX in REX, but nothing on his picture. I think he may have spotted the marks under the date personally. I have emailed him and waiting on a reply
  18. Can i just add, cleaning coins or anything is definately a NO NO.
  19. yes i saw the crap between the 3 and 6 but nothing between 1 and 9 then what looks like a perfect 1, but it will soon be in hand to have a serious good going over

  21. Hello Steve, There aren't any pictures attached. John. Hi John, Will try again, I did attach pictures Maybe the pics were to big and didn't actually attach, you have a max of 150kb of upload
  22. well the dealer has emailed and said it will be posted Monday, so pix Tuesday/Wednesday.
  23. Asked this question a while back, finally got a bigger picture.
  24. BTW 400, nice coin mate lol
  25. I'd need the coin and my microscope to stick my neck on the block Dave Ok, then we shall all have to sit and wait, but interested to hear what others might think in the meantime.......This coin collecting lark is exciting eh
