    My Latest Acquisition

Everyone has an individual taste, what appeals to me, may not appeal to others, but if you knew it had been dipped would you have still bought it? Knowledge is power and this is what the forum is all about, being better informed. The coin is nice, if the seller or whoever dipped it had left it alone it would have been better, after reading the link 1949 posted i didn't realise some people even use putty to deceive even the graders are the TPGs, it just goes to show you what lengths people go to to make a few $s........... I'm going to add the link 1949 posted in the thread "useful links" for future reading/reference.......

You could do with upgrading those pics Rob
  9. Getting it reslabbed is a certainty, next Paris grading week is 14th -18th Nov
  10. The footnote from the DNW lot.......In hindsight there is more B dies than quoted by Michael Freeman. I have to get mine re-attributed Die letter A is R17 and B is R18, although with more of the die letter B being found it would probably be more like R17 as with die letter A. As with silver in ESC, their rarities are higher in higher grades (an assumption though) Footnote Michael Freeman’s 2006 rarity rating of “6-15” specimens known may, with the benefit of hindsight, be regarded as a slight underestimate. At least 9 other examples, mostly in fine condition or less, have been offered at auction since 2006. However, the present piece outgrades by a considerable margin every other 1862 halfpenny with a die letter seen in commerce. The only pieces that in any way approach this one for grade are two with the more frequently met with die letter A (’Cheshire’ Collection, Goldberg, 30 May 2005, 3107, $2,700; London Coins, 1 March 2009, 555, £1,700)
  11. @Paulus Sold by DNW £4200 hammer Sept 2016 and graded as GEF, so we can throw Spink out of the window as prices fluctuate. Trying to narrow down where mine may have come from and thought possibly the Ex Cheshire sold at Goldbergs, but this was as it turns out in an NGC slab, no pictures unfortunately and also MS63 http://www.goldbergcoins.com/content/?page_id=3145
  12. Yes i'm hoping for free of charge, but going to call them tomorrow and see what they say about sending it back in and if there's a fee for their error
  13. I was sweating today Pete, DHL came and only gave me a packet for the boss and some Coldplay concert tickets, but i had notice that it was on his van, i even showed him and he said he didn't have it. I checked 40 mins later the email notice and it said it had been delivered which then got my head going, i went to the postbox and there was another 2 packets......Sweat off
  14. For those that don't know, the 1862 was mis-attributed and was graded as a normal 1862 halfpenny, now the dilemma is whether to send it back to them for re-attribution as i'm going to be selling it.......
  15. Ah yes, lol, forgot. Funnily enough, the dealer i got it from has sent another packet addressed to me, i thought, why 2 packets? Turns out he's also sent me someone else' coins that were meant for someone in Italy, roughly about 20, i hope to deal with him again
  16. One other slabbed in this grade, also a forum member
  17. We have some winners, slabbed as a normal 1862 halfpenny
  18. You may have missed the most important part of the coin Nordle
  19. So, my 1862 Halfpenny has finally arrived, better pictures will follow as these were a bit on the rushed side. MS64 graded
  20. Here is the OP from the CCF forum and how she came across hers Hi everyone I came across this today, I've done a bit of research and I know its the new £1 coin planned to be introduced 2017 but I couldn't find anything saying if it was rare or not.I work in a cash office and I know a lot of the rare and collectable coins but never in 14 years have I seen a trial piece! Just wondering if anyone here knew anything about it.Thanks And again, same OP I saw the ones that's been on eBay in the past and one on preloved for £999......I actually laughed when I saw that one lol I doubt it's worth anything near those amounts, I was just curious to it's rarity as I've never come across a trial coin before. And again I found another one today! It was in with a bag of 50p's. It seems strange to find two a few days apart in the same cash office so I'm guessing they're not that rare. Still swapped it for a £1 out of my purse, they're nice coin to have
  21. It states there will be some sort of change as the sample coin doesn't feature the final design (20)
  22. Yes, there will be a lot of confusion about this now, DNW and other auction houses sell various die trials, but only an assumption, they might not want it out just now incase some Chinese businessmen buy one and have a year to perfect their dies?
