Let's See Your Toned English Milled Silver!
azda replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Is this a newbie Rob or one that's been stored in your basement for a while? -
Thats the people, although i couldn't remember where they were or the name of the company, knew it was down Saouf though
-
The point i was trying to make was if the CGS slabbers are pissed off enough with the former company to not want to buy CGS graded coins
-
I wonder if selling a CGS slab will become more difficult as they are a now defunct company. Not sure why PCGS or NGC would only be good for UNC coins, i suppose everyone has their opinion, but i've seen lesser graded coins in CGS holders also.....I think what people need to realise about the American grading system is what MS 60 and so on actually are in terms of a British grade, some people see an MS grade as UNC when in fact it's only in the upper 60s that this is more the case....
-
Only for the elite, or for those with more money than sense I found a daffodil
-
I'm going to pick some flowers and think happy thoughts about CGS or LCGS or whatever they call themselves these days Peace and love man.......
-
If i remember correclty there was some insurance Company in Dorset or so who cater for coin collections, can't remember for The life of me The name but it was discussed on here a few years back. Maybe someone has insurance with them on here? Oh and welcome back @TomGoodheart i See You eventually got back in, i forwarded your Email to Nordle, he thinks it's a Forum coding problem
-
So that'll be 8 months waiting on the same coins
-
As i quoted above, CGS is the all conquering, when it states CGS 10 then that's what it is...., don't you dare disagree or else Semra will come calling
-
When graded by god, god is the all conquering, and we don't discuss anything that god has graded.........IE, when it's slabbed by CGS the their grade is deemed final and absolute......It's eventually an old boys network and will always remain the same....
-
Please don"t value according to Spink.....
-
Exactly my point, it was intimated that the whole thing was being taken over by a whole new team, but apparently not......
-
That's very strange as the new Grading company has nothing to do with the old company...............Is someone bullshitting somewhere?
-
You are their secret agent .......... Their ONLY agent
-
I've no idea what it actually costs to grade at the new LCGS, of course there is the initial fee of XXX multiplied by XXX plus the additional XXX to look at the lovely pictures they've took of the coin you've submitted and paid XXX for, but what does it cost when the £499 has finished and you have to start stumping up another fee, what's the cost afterwards?
-
Or PWA
-
Are we missing something Pete? £499 is what is required to start the ball rolling towards getting a coin graded by LCGS plus a £99 fee to see it on the charts? Or is there a secret fee that the friendly types pay? P.S, i'm not gonna argue with you being strange
-
Receipts are useless these days, of course you log them as a collector, but if you're talking 10+ years or more then they are irrelevant unless there is serious provenance as the prices have changed so much just in the last 8 years........If you're talking provenance then you're talking money, before and afterwards and a majority of those coins will be recorded

Is there anybody out there?
azda replied to Rob's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
I hope your 21 day tour of Europe went well -
No.......But what does Stephen reckon the value is? How many coins are there? Attribution and grade would determine value, if they are of low value then IMO they wouldn't need insuring, if you're looking at high end, rare grade coins, then of course insurance is always good, but so are bank vaults. Some pictures and perhaps a list of what we're talking about might help the cause.......Churchills aren't of any value to be perfectly blunt, £1 a coin in UNC as there were millions of these minted...... So before Stephen decides that insurance is the best way forward, with a recurring premium, perhaps letting us know roughly what we're looking at is a good start, and not to be too shabby, Ingrams and Coincraft are expensive for common coins, Baldwins, well, they are expensive, but generally a little more exclusive

You could cancel the Philippines and stay at home, that way you don't need to get too depressed about using holidays from next year I'm the opposite, i still have about 18 left, just had the last 2 weeks off, we get 30 days plus 12 bank holidays and if you want we can also take your overtime as holidays, i'm currently hovering at around 120hrs of overtime which i've collected, or else you could get it paid out and be stung for tax....... -
IF you buy coins to sell then it would be better going to the likes of PCGS or NGC who are more worldwide recognised rather then LCG who are in theory a brand new grading company...........
-
Exactly the reason i leave george V coinage well alone unless the hair detail on the OBV is nearly struck up, a very difficult coinage IMO
