Ethical and MP shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence I have your number Pete should you ever forget it (Just kidding) I actually did have a phone conversation with Martin once, quite interesting and an eye opener what his wife was shouting in the background, let's just say it proved everything we ever thought- 48 replies

Hmmmm, can you point this internet rule out for me? If he is in business as a coin dealer then the card will be splashed all over the internet, i'm making it more easily found. When in business you are obviously needing to be found on the internet, so there's no wrong doing here Pete- 48 replies

Brilliant, have you ever thought about a career in stand up comedy? Funnily enough he bought a coin off me this year under his wife' eBay name, brilliant, unfortunately the name and address stick out like a sore thumb- 48 replies

if you quote any varieties on the submission forms then it would be checked, CGS actively look for varities and sometimes even create their own

CGS 82 would equal MS64-65 so NGC weren't far short of the mark, an interesting comparison but in that grade on the NGC slab i wouldn't have spent anymore money having it re-graded as it's now a more expensive coin, but i know how you feel about CGS slabs Pete, hence the re-grade i assume

Easy & cost effective way to grade with PCGS
azda replied to evansuk2000's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
When I joined it was about 2 weeks before the Munich fair and hasn't received my vocher, I explained this to the PCGS lady, they emailed about a week later asking if I had received it, it came by post, I scanned and emailed it and wasn't charged for the gradings. I've read recently that they are now sending vouchers out digitally now..... -

Technically, cleaning/dipping is a NO NO. Silver dipping is a common occurrence but if left in the solution to long it can strip the lustre of the coin and make it look like a brick, very dull and flat, i assume it's effectively burnt the coin, doing it properly can enhance a coin dramatically though, longer than 10 seconds and you can kiss goodbye to whatever you paid........

Easy & cost effective way to grade with PCGS
azda replied to evansuk2000's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
PCGS accept submissions by mail as well as in person but they don't like using the normal delivery system because of insurance purposes, for instance if you send with Royal Mail you are not covered bt their T&Cs as coins are in fact prohibited to be mailed, i use Fedex, you can order a Fedex pickup from their website unless you have an office near you. You can drop the coins off at the fair i listed above but ONLY if you are a PCGS member, no membership equals no submission unless Alan @mhcoins can help out there should you not wish to become a member, but i'm not sure if he wishes to become overrun with people asking him to submit their coins.... All coins are taken and graded in Paris, they won't be graded in the USA -
Easy & cost effective way to grade with PCGS
azda replied to evansuk2000's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Never used NGC personally, BRG is of the opinion that they are better, i'm the other way around, so it's just a matter of choice. I used PCGS because they grade in Paris, there's an NGC office here in Munich but they only take your submissions and deal with all the paperwork regarding re-entry in the EU as they only grade in the USA, so everything is sent there and it has a 6 week turnaround. Paris is just around the corner and when their grading week is on then it takes only a 10 day turnaround -
