  1. I just went through 25 of them, but didn't find any with that die crack.

    Identifying cleaned coins

You are right about die polishing lines. Those are generally only found on higher grade coins. After a coin is circulated, die polishing lines tend to be the first part of the coin to wear (out).
  3. I don't think it is a open three! The way the top is curved is a givaway!

    Bits for sale

Nordle. The same thing happened to me on the 1903, open 3. When I bid, I was told that the seller didn't accept bids outside of the UK.

    LCA Dec 2015

The 1862/, 8/6, also looks like it is a 1862/1....... http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?searchterm=1862+penny&searchtype=1&page=Catalogue Bob, when I click on your facebook link I get a message that I'm not part of the audience for that page - any suggestions ? Works OK for me ... nice to see that Martin and David are together at last I just checked it, and it is ok. The page is setup to accept all viewers. There might be a situation where you have to "Like" the page...not sure about that though. Thanks for visiting! ps Very noteworthy that Martin and Azda are shown together on the log, I know David feels very close with Martin! Ha,Ha!

    1903 open 3 variations

Here are two that I have. Both are normal axis, but the one on the right, which is slabbed, almost looks like it is a overdate of some kind.

    1874H - Freeman 76 wanted

I thought I might have one for you Michael, but it has the sea showing on both sides, so I guess it isn't the F69.... Hi Bob, Thanks for looking anyway. Much appreciated If I could get one, even in modest condition like this example I'd be very happy. I just saw one in Ingram's coin list that just came out. It is a little green...hard to see the sea levels without it being in hand. He's got a couple of F69's, but I couldn't see a F76. You are right...I was looking at the wrong Freeman #.......

He also has it listed as a "KN" but the picture shows a "H"......
  16. I think the Edward VII Florin is one of Britain's best looking coins! Nice example!

    Re-Toning

Here she is guys. She is the Secretary of London Coins Limited, who owns 51% of CGS Grading. The other two Officers are Stephen and Gillian Lockett, who are Directors. Who owns the other 49%...I do not know.

    Narrow date 1880

Here is one that is easy to count the teeth on...definately 9.5 teeth!
  19. RLC35

    Narrow date 1880

You may be right Pete, however I was looking at the two ND examples that Gouby has in his book, and to me it looked more like the 12.5 tooth example. The O is a little bit slanted, and it would be easy to read it either way! Has anyone else have a opinion?

    Narrow date 1880

Good spot Terry - Michael Gouby's Victorian Penny book does picture a narrow 1880 and it's difficult to see whether your date is even narrower than his - there's not much in it. Even so, he'd only heard of 1 such example so it's not at all common. Richard I have 5 1880;s...they breakdown this way... qty 1 Narrow Date (12.5 teeth, like the one in the above example) 2 Wide Date (13.5 teeth, both are 8/8) 2 Wide Date (14.5 teeth)

    1880, 8 over 8 Penny

Nice purchase Jerry...nice, clear 8/8. Also the O of ONE is extremely clear, and that is one of the identifiers!

    Generous donation?

Some anonymous donor in Chicago, places $20 gold pieces in the Salvation Army Christmas (Bell Ringer) buckets every year. The Salvation Army is so use to that happening, that they have a large coin dealer, in the area, that quickly turns the double eagles into cash for them!
  23. Thanks Dave. I just got my Nov "on-line" issue. I'll check it out.
