  1. I would say it is not a "C" letter Half Penny...JMHO..
  2. Greaves, I use a Canon Powershot SD1000 (Digital Elf). It has a Macro selection, and zoom. It does a pretty good job at closeups of dates, etc. It not expensive, so if you need a cheap camera, that does a good job, you might try one out.
  3. Funny you should mention the "Basement." I bought a 1860 N/Z off of Steven Hill, and when I asked him if he had any provenance on the coin, he said no...I think that one just came from the basement! I thought he was kidding...who would store coins in a basement? LOL!
  4. I am not impressed with the Baldwins offerings, and find them to be a little aloof. Baldwins always had and still have the "me expert, you dickhead" approach to dealing with ordinary collectors.
  5. Stop by their booth some time, and ask to see their copper/bronze Pennies! I don't think you will find much. btw...the coins you are referring too, are the upper level type items Steve mentioned. Being a Copper/Bronze Collector, I am not impressed with the Baldwins offerings, and find them to be a little aloof.
  6. Steve Hill told me that Baldwins don't deal much in Copper/Bronze...more the upper level coins only! Every time I see Baldwins here in the USA, they have a few Pennies, but not many.
  7. http://www.cccsat.org/node/15255 The above is the 1st Marine Division Band, playing in the Independence Day Parade, in Oceanside, California. Oceanside is the Pacific Beach front Home of the Division Headquarters...Camp Pendleton, CA. Happy 4th of July to all!
  8. Half English, and Half Scottish...both currently British! Ha,Ha...
  9. Thanks Chris. It's a big day for us...even though it marks our separation from England, we still remain strong allies.
  10. I added a link on my Facebook page. Nice job on the website!
  11. Thanks Nordle...good planning!

    New Ebay Fee Structure

I've never had a problem with PayPal so far, touch wood. One of the things that is not generally known...If the buyer has less than a 50 feedback, then the insurance from eBay/Paypal is only $200, not the value of the merchandise! Also there is a $25 deductable, so if you sold a coin for $3000, and the buyer had only 46 feedback, then you would receive $175 (200-25), for loss of the coin!...surprise.....
  13. How funny is this ad?..... He must be using a translation program to convert from Spanish!

  17. So far Indianapolis has received 12 inches of global warming (snow), and it is still coming down in droves! I've cleaned my, and my neighbors driveways off twice so far (6" of snow each time) today (100' each)! Tonight is is going to be 16 below zero here, and the "High" tomorrow ia set for 12 below zero! I'll be glad when this global warming is over! Ha,Ha. BTW... the football game in Green Bay today is going to be played in -10 degree temperatures.....outside! I just checked the weather in London...it is 50 degrees...I should have stayed in the UK longer!

    more FAKES

I like the Provenance...."A old London Collection"
  19. Exactly, the LC one i just quoted looks worse than the ebay one The coin is EF...seldom do you see that coin with as good hair definition as it has on the obverse...which is a used sov. die! I think the valuation would be 550-700 someplace. The coin has some circulation marks, and some small stains on the reverse, but is still a rare coin in that condition. IMHO...Ha,Ha Are you at risk of confusing rarity and grade Bob? Perish the thought! Probably...but maybe not! LOL!...

  21. Judging from his BIN pricing (usually 2-3 times value) he will not be letting that 1844 go for anything near the current price. It is a nice coin though!

    And for my next trip.

http://www.irishcoins.com Del Parker...he has been around forever...good guy. I missed a BU 1943 1/2Crown, by waiting to long to make up my mind, and he sold it. $3,000...I'll probably never get another chance at that price.
