Putting the reeded edge, of a like coin, up against the mark would show if it was a bag mark or not. btw...the bag mark is usually "new" looking, since it is exposing bare metal.
-
Oz, Bagmarks are made inside a bag of coins, or when they are dropped into the collection container after striking, not during the minting process itself.
-
It looks like a "Bag Mark", where one coin in a bag has come in contact with the reeded edge of another. It is pretty common, even on newly minted coins.

International postage went way up in January for the USA. I use to be able to sent a 2 ounce package to the UK for about $6.50...it is now $13.23 for the same pkg. That increase, along with the UK mandated Vat tax, really hurts international business.

It makes me a little nervous when someone in business, tells me "In a move to cut costs for sellers". Generally that phrase is just propaganda, they are doing it for reasons other than for the seller! ...You mean there is nothing in it for eBay! LOL. I got the same release from eBay in a email.... -
Colin, Do you have a picture?

1897 one penny dot's between e and n of penny
RLC35 replied to frankiew's topic in Confirmed unlisted Varieties.
Diemakers are known to drill a hole at the end of a crack in a die, to stop the crack (sometimes only temporarily) to allow the continued use of a die. This is mostly done on forging dies, but maybe on finish quality dies also. (?) -

Here is one, that is kind of hard to find, a 1922 Penny, with "Dot" on center trident. -
Help with Grade: 1857 Halfpenny
RLC35 replied to Lost_shilling's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Using Dave's grading book as a guide. I would say AVF on the Obverse, and VF on the Reverse. This is not reducing the grading for any porosity, etc. It is a petty nice coin overall. A dealer would mark the coin as VF overall, and would reduce the pricing for any porosity, etc. IMO... -
Really nice example Mike!

Nicely done Rob! I am from the United States, but I am on your side of this conversation!

2018 Pre-decimal and decimal books

"My online subscription is over £300 a year. I always ring them up on renewal and argue for a discount. It's coming to that time of year again." I do the same with Sirius Satellite Radio each year. They always send me a bill for $199.00 invoice for each car (2 cars). After I call them and tell them that is too much, and we haggle for a little bit, they end up renewing them for $99.00/year each, which is what I have been paying for years! I don't like Companies that do business that way, but I do like the clear channel radio, wherever you are. -
He has lowered the price from 1700 to 37.00 now....

I sent him a note telling him he had the coin mis-identified!

Declan, The triple "F" 1860 penny is a Gouby BP1860Jd. It has the really nice triple "F", plus a double "T", and a double "1" in the date. I have one slabbed AU55BN by NGC. Gouby shows 10+ known, with the Best at AU90.

Jerry. My wife has had both a illiostomy (similar to a colonoscopy), and a Urostomy. While it does require some lifestyle changes, it does in fact work pretty well. I wish you Father the Best of Luck, and also to you, and your family, in your support responsibility.

It sounds like things are coming together for you Pete...Good Job! I wish you a speedy way back in fitness also!
-
Already done, but good advice!

I haven't cracked it open, but at some point I will, when I get ready to sell it.

I had the same issue Zooey. I sent in a F192A Penny (1922/27) with full documentation, and it came back a F192 Penny...and they lost my documentation! They graded it ok on grade (VF I think), but they took a $4,000 coin and turned it into a $50 coin!

Yes B&C you are right. Remember the time you bought a UNC Mule, only to determine it was not a mule, and returned it? After that, the grading company tried to explain it away as a "partial" mule.......LOL.

1890 Penny Obverse Legend Difference

My coin sale was a private sale, without the frenzy usually associated with a auction. I would assume the price at auction would be higher. However I did save the auction fee.
