  1. Do people collect them? This is the first one I have ever come across tbh
  2. Again, sorry about the quality, I have no clue about cameras (though I want to take pics of all my coins now lol)
  3. I just found this 5p in my change, and it seems pretty off centre. This is my first attempt at photography, so forgive me for the poor efforts lol
  4. I thought as much... I have a friend who bought a couple, and wanted to know if they were worth much, and I was unable to find anything about them lol
  5. No one?
  6. Save/reserve a copy of each for me please, and I will square you up during the week.
  7. I see a fair few of them on EBay, and was wondering just what they are? Most seem to be George III.
  8. Also, a Lt Hill of the Northamptonshire Regiment won a VC (as 58th Regiment) in the Boer War.. for action on Jan 28th 1881..
  9. Grr... no edit.. I think it is a military medal of some sort.. The 8th Regiment of Foot became the King's (Liverpool) Regiment in 1881... and they certainly served in Afghanistan.
  10. I was going to say, on my quick glance, that it looked like an Irish penny or half penny.
  11. Well Jay, I'm not too sure too many on here will be willing to part with their silver coins.. I had the impression it wasn't the done thing on here, and considering I myself deal in metals (gold, Platinum, palladium, silver etc), I didn't think it appropriate
  12. If they can get an extra dollar out of it, they will invent a new grade.... annoying tbh
  13. I kinda mean't that if I was unsure, I would look to see if they were contemporary forgeries of their era.. and when that is ruled out, then we know it is a recent job
  14. Did you get that list I sent to, Mr Leviathan? I fired it off to the yahoo address in your profile... I did my friend, and thank you very much for it! BTW guys, the name is Neill
  15. I would have thought we would welcome them to defend, or to clear up, anything? I mean, if someone has bought a fake, and the usual 'contacting the seller' process has failed, there isn't really a leg to stand on. Perhaps threads could take the form of the coin itself being the title, and the details in the opening post, not accusing, but asking opinion? The the seller could be contacted, by the buyer, and given a link. Keep it open and honest.. and properly moderated.
  16. This is obviously an Anti Irish thing.. now where is that moneygrabbing quango holding Trevor person with the Equalities money making scheme thing... When I ran a few forums (fora?), we put people in certain 'usergroups', that had certain rights etc.. perhaps that is what it is?
  17. Well imagine the fun and games I have trying to spend my Northern Irish pound sterling over in England... it is always interesting That said, I can and do see their pov, and try to change my notes to BoE before arriving.
  18. You can block sellers... A list would be great actually... kind of like a 'name and shame' list, that gives named sellers a chance to defend themselves before being put in the 'red book'. Could we do that? I can't think of a legal reason why we shouldn't..
  19. That would make me look at whether they are contemporary..?
  20. Maybe you can edit after so many posts..? That kind of thing usually leads to spam though.. useless tattle of no substance on each and every thread..a bit like I am doing
  21. I had thought of that actually... and it a shame that we need to have such measures
  22. I was thinking of buying a few of the dodgy ones, just to see how good/bad the fakes are, and perhaps to circulate amongst ourselves? A 'Dodgy Dealer Fund' (DDF) might not be a bad idea, so that we can all chip in a few quid, and build up a wee collection of established fakes that we could send around ourselves? Something to compare against, educate ourselves etc?
  23. I thought the typo thing was for us all.. it is a bit annoying, especially as I usually make at least one
