Those are certainly very nice looking notes, and I wish you best of luck in selling them. A little more information would do nicely too.

Unidentified coins
HistoryTreasures replied to sweetcheeks82's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
If the first is genuine (I can't tell without a lot of Photoshopping), it's probably Diocletian or one of the many short-lived emperors of the mid-late 3rd century A.D. As far as value is concerned, even if it is genuine, probably not worth a fortune as this type of coin is turned up quite regularly by metal detectorists. The second is definitely a gaming token and I would tend to agree with John (argentumandcoins) re the third. It actually says POSTVUMVS on the obverse side of that coin - Gotta have good eyes -
I was wondering whether this was a good idea - I am thinking of sending some coins to be slabbed at London Coins' CGS service? Does this service offer a good value service? i.e. are the returns well worth it when compared to the costs for the service itself?

CGS grading service
HistoryTreasures replied to HistoryTreasures's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
That is an interesting remark as I was just thinking of getting a few world coins slabbed by them (PCGS or NGC) but I was actually wondering if it would be best to split them up i.e. do they British ones here and the world by PCGS in America. The mind doth boggle... -

Question 2: Would there be any point in slabbing a Conder Halfpenny with the Anglesey Druid in XF? Also, what are your thoughts on Halfcrowns, I have an XF and a VF+ would this increase their value. I suppose this is really the main sort of question. And where is there PCG label recognised as a mark of quality? Is it just London Coins auctions? -
I wonder if he knows he's the culprit? Hmm Dime-bar!

This is quite interesting?.. It seems he has chosen a fine name for himself! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KING-HENRY-V1-1422-1461-silver-coin-/260747807066?pt=UK_Coins_BritishHammered_RL&hash=item3cb5c7c95a

Cartwheel Twopence of George II (1797). Largest circulation British coin at 56.7 grammes, the famous 'cartwheel' twopence minted at Matthew Boulton's SOHO mint in Birmingham using the new steam-powered printing machinery, this is a lovely example of a historical gem in copper. I think this is a good example, with 'SOHO' clearly legible at lower right on reverse and good detail in general. These were freqeuently dropped so virtually all that circulated have edge knocks (eks), the ones on this piece do not look too significant. I think this example shoud grade F+/Very Fine. Please contact me if any interest in this item. Asking 39 GBP postage free. I can also accept equivalent value in Euros or Dollars.

5 Reis of Portugal (1875). I think this coin is in an attractive condition and would make an excellent addition to any collection. I am not sure on the grading of these but it looks to be at least a good Very Fine. Asking 12 GBP postage free. I can also accept equivalent value in Euros or Dollars.

I have a LOT bookmarked and I didn't count them fully but there might be over 100 I am going to go back and organise them all at some point, maybe even re-read them too. At the moment I haven't found the time to go through many of them so I selected 1-20% as I have occasionally used them for reference. I keep bookmarks to pages on the almost entire gamut of numismatic topics. Here are some select examples of what I've got Roman women on coins (always hard to ID!) http://anonym.to/?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_piLpDBZVM A really interesting website on pit and colliery checks.. http://www.mining-memorabilia.co.uk/Checks.htm How to read Nuremberg Jetons http://www.ukdfd.co.uk/pages/nuremberg-jetons.html Cnut short cross Pennies (I have a couple) http://www.englishhammered.com/cnut/cnut03.html Reference to Umayyad coins http://www.grifterrec.com/coins/islam/umayyad/umayyad.html -
1887 Shillings
HistoryTreasures replied to declanwmagee's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I have 7 of these in my possession right now, but only one of them has the dot at the bottom pointing to a denticle (to left). All the other 6 have a 'loopy-Q' and the dot goes in between. Is this an accurate ratio? -

Thanks for writing the post, I had no idea that such varieties existed. -
The last one, does look obvious. The first of these two, not bad... I have to say 'it is very, very worrying indeed!

What about it? Apart from the strangely placed XII?
