    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Poor quality fake. Even eBay should be able to spot that one!
  2. Looks like a die clash to me. There seems to be some signs of the obverse lettering on the reverse.

    1841 Queen Victoria halfpennies.

Just as well I suggested a couple of theories then!

It's the automatic white balance calculation in the camera. The two sides of the same coin can reflect different amounts of light into the camera lens, affecting the calculation of white balance and thus producing slightly different hues. It can also be caused by your light source changing temperature over time, so always let your lamps fully warm up before taking your pictures.
  5. I opened the page using Chrome, then pressed F12 to allow you to browse the page source. Selecting 'Sources' then browsing the structure below 'www.baldwin.co.uk' and then 'media' until you find the image file 'BH134.jpg', of which there are two sizes - select the larger of the two. You can then see the image and right click and save.
  6. It's not straightforward, but the image reference is contained in the source of the page. Here's the image for the link you supplied:

    1864 Queen Victoria florin fake?

Yep. It's a fake. 1864 florin die number 64 is a well known wrong'un. A search of this forum will provide plenty of information about these fakes.

    Is "Cameo" a recognised grade/variety ?

Yes, mine too, except for the farthing. Here's the penny obverse.

    Is "Cameo" a recognised grade/variety ?

No, not really. The cameo on the silver reduces with the size of coin. Any cameo on the bronze is not particularly noticeable. Here's the penny obverse.

    Is "Cameo" a recognised grade/variety ?

I've seen quite a number of 1937 proof sets with cameo. Here's an example from my set.

My 1882 halfcrown has the same die rust spots.

    Is "Cameo" a recognised grade/variety ?

Here is the picture of VS's 1839 halfcrown:
  13. It sold for $18,500 when it was sold at Goldbergs in 2016.
  14. An interesting mule. Sixpence reverse and half sovereign obverse.
  15. Here are the pictures: Lot 30849 Lot 32651 It's difficult to see how the second coin only achieved MS62. It's a beauty.

    Oh dear...nicely done!!!

They won't be seeing that again. I'll bet it has already been melted down.
  17. It's not a plain edge, the description is wrong. The picture on the saleroom.com shows a milled edge.

Having looked at some other examples, it seems that the 1927 and 1928 wreath crowns have the slightly different reverse.

    2nd attempt!

In Photobucket, go to your library, click on a picture you want, then click on the "direct" link to the right of the picture. Then you can insert that link here, either by simply pasting it, or by using "Insert image from URL".

    Coins without Denomination

Whether or not a coin contains the denomination does not have any bearing on whether it is legal or not. The various Coinage Acts over the years allow the government to make a proclamation that specifies what constitutes a particular denomination and as long as a coin meets those requirements it is legal. Here is an example of a proclamation: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/2446362

    Tom's screenshots

I think it's a page coding issue. If I narrow the window gradually, the like button disappears when the window reaches a certain width. Sometimes it hops down to the next line, but not always.

    Fear of missing out.
  23. Sadly, any value it had disappeared with the harsh cleaning. I think that the Spink VF price of £45 is much nearer the mark than the asking price £450.
  24. Or is it just an email address harvester...
