Tarnished Isle of Man & British Crowns

Thank you copper123. I actually have the option of buying to sell at least 30 crowns or more but they are tarnished. I wasnt sure how much that would decrease their value.
  9. Hello, I have about 20 or more Isle of Man & British Crowns but they have tarnished. Some have tarnished just around the edge but others a bit more. Can anyone tell me if they are still sellable? The photo doesn't do the Crown justice. thanks

    Value of Shillings

Anything pre-1947 has 50% silver content and therefore contains its value in silver. A few of those George VI shillings (1947 - 1951) look in high grade and would be worth a pound or two, though not rare. However, at that size, it's unclear whether they have lustre, or have been polished. If the latter, then worth virtually nothing I'm afraid. ok, thanks. They havnt been polished, not by me anyway.
  13. Hi, Can anyone tell me if any of these shillings and two shillings have any value please? thanks http://www.flickr.com/photos/25208007@N08/sets/72157626648258798/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/25208007@N08/sets/72157626558716360/

    Half Crowns

Unless I am not looking at it right I can only see a 1922 half crown in Fair condition, value around a fiver. Because of its grade, the coin has no numismatic value above its metal content. There are more coins there Red, with dates from 1918 up to Eliz II (1962). But it's not my area so I wouldn't want to guess at values I'm afraid. Oh, and your 'Unidentified' sweetcheeks? I reckon it's a contemporary (ie made during the early 1800s) counterfeit of a George II shilling. Made of brass and not uncommon, but an interesting piece of numismatic history. ok, thanks http://www.flickr.com/photos/25208007@N08/sets/72157626469494100/

    Farthings Value

The 1909 I would give GVF whilst the 1917 probably around Fair. The fist might be 'worth' about £3 whilst the second has no obvious value. I have put 'worth' in inverted commas because that is purely a book figure; dealers are unlikely to want it other than as part of a bulk lot and you may struggle to reach that figure on e-bay. So make of that what you will! I would agree with Derek entirely, you can see similar examples in my shop as confirmation Thanks. What about the others? http://www.flickr.com/photos/25208007@N08/sets/72157626485813134/

    British Pennies?

I think you were looking at the 1909 halfpenny which is in the penny folder Declan. The 1909 penny is too worn to tell. Sorry to say sweetcheeks82 but there is not much of interest there. They are all pretty worn as to be uninteresting to most collectors. The silver coins will be worth there weight in silver, perhaps one or two will fetch more. The 1860 penny may fetch a few pounds. oops! I just looked at the date, and at the 1 pointing squarely at a bead! Ok, thanks guys
