Thanks guys. The letters and aren't raised but incuse. I had a look a my father-in-law's Krause and there are similar reverses minus the Pisagua. It is also much the same size as a Chile 8 reales of the same date. I am not dismising fiscal document seal, or post mark theories. If anyone comes across any more information if they could post it I would be truely grateful. Rgears, Hus

Thanks for taking time out to reaserch your copy Davis for Geoff. From what you point out I would have to go with reverse D. Would you concur?

For anyone that is interested in classic cars. I was at a classic car show yesterday at Thirlstane castle. This is the home of the Maitland family, it is in the Royal Burgh of Lauder near where I live. It is the famous home of John Maitland first duke of Lauderdale, who was one of the five "Cabal". One of the five leading ministers of King Charles II during the early 1670's. He apparently ruled Scotland with a iron hand. Link to slideshow

Off the subject of coins.
Hussulo replied to Hussulo's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
I would love to own a classic car. My top choice would be an AC Cobra even if it was a replica. Well here's pictures of an Shelby AC Cobra Replica for anyone that hasn't seen them. If I was ever to call a car Sexy this would be it. -
Expensive and if genuine no doubt rare coin, but not much eye apeal. If I had that much money to spend on a coin personaly it wouldn't be that.

Thanks Colin, You have sourced a lot more information then I could find. Regards, Hus

Nice coins and info scottishmoney. I once bought a "California" fractional gold coin. Won it for very little on ebay. I belive it was a restrike/replica and probably gold plated. The obverse had an indian head the reverse 1/2 dollar but had a bear below. I since read somewhere that the coins with bears are restrikes? shed anymore light on this matter?

Ok to be honest most of that went straight over my head Chris, I think it will be a static html site, but I do like your new look site. -

No problemo Chris. By the way how do you "turn on better search engine friendly paths "? Just a thought for when I get my website up and running. -
Somebody posted this on another forum. Thought I'd share it here for anyone that hasn't seen it.

Stemm said a formal announcement will come later, but court records indicate the coins might come from a 400-year-old ship found off England. CLICK HERE FOR LINK -
1876 H Thick Flan Half Penny F327
Hussulo posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Hi all I recently picked up a thick flan 1876 H Half Penny, which I presume is Freeman 327 R18. The strange thing is that the date doesn’t seem to be as narrow as it should be i.e. reverse M. If you look at the picture in the book the top sheriff of the 6 is in line with the leftmost fold in Britannia's dress. On my coin it is in line with the second from the left, also I can't see any signs of a sandal on her foot. Could it be reverse K? Any thoughts, I haven't had much time to research it yet. Pic 2 weight. pic 3 date. -
Thank you.

Here's another picture with more light on it.

Nice calipers!

If it was an area that I thought may interest me at some point, or would possibly make a reference for coins which may end up passing through my hands, I would probably hold onto it, but I think it may be put to better use by someone who has an interest in this area of collecting.

While on the Subject of Errors
Hussulo replied to Ch2toWm4's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Great website Ch2toWm4. I have already got it added to my favorites. I didn't relise it was your website. -
I received one too. Great looking catalogue. Great for anyone interested in older coins. Generous offer Colin.
-
Superb brockage Ken. Very nice brockage Ch2toWm4. You have a couple of great gothic florin errors there. It's funny how I hadn't come across a gothic florin error before, and now there are new examples surfacing. Good stuff thanks for sharing guys.
-
A Gothic Florin reverse full brockage error. I have seen a few Vicky brockage pennys and halfpennies, but never a florin brockage before. My British error collection is growing nicely.

Will do.
