Well a little while ago I bought the domain name www.coins.gb.com . Why I don't know, but it’s quite catchy and would make a good domain name for another British coin forum or even for a British coin dealer. Anyway I might try and sell it (if the right offer comes along). Maybe even advertise it for sale in Coin News. Or then again I might develop it? A little bit unsure at the moment.

Empire Mints
Hussulo replied to big jar of wasps's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
E. Dawson, the ones that are often offered are either the Bombay Mint restrikes,or they could be forgeries that jewellers have made using very good gold.It is virtually impossible to find an original 1918I Bombay Mint Sovereign. Aidan. So is it impossible to tell an original from a restrike? and how good are the forgeries? -

Thanks Aidan, I lookforward to seeing some of your coins when you get your new computer up and running. -
I agree Chris. All the other coins.com, co.uk etc.. were taken already, and this one being .gb.com ties in with the type of coins I'm interested in. I don't know much about Google search engines etc.., and it might be something to look into. As for making money from it I'm not sure I ever will but it didn't cost me much so I haven't lost much. I would like to play around with it and maybe learn about designing websites etc. One day eventually I may use it but at the moment my knowledge on coins is scarce and I fear I have got years ahead of me before I could one day start off a forum or maybe even sell coins through my website. As for Rotographic.com was that already up and running. Was someone else using it? or did they buy it to try and sell it to you at a profit?

Doesn't look like it. The 1858/3 normally has a characteristic flaw running through the bottom of the date and it doesn't show too much of the 3 either. Not very good grade example attached. Thanks Rob. What do you think is the cause of the shape of this 8 a die flaw perhaps?

Have you got any pics Aidan? It would be interesting to see it. -
Hi all I have just scanned in a couple of coins from my collection that I bought a while back from a local dealer who mostly specialises in antiques, buttons, postcards etc... Anyway one of them is this Elizabeth sixpence. I was wondering if anyone could tell me more with perhaps a Spink reference no. plus if you could give me a grade that would be great. My scanner is not of the best quality and it does look a little nicer in hand. Thanks.

I totaly agree, I don't know much about hammered but when my local dealer offered them to me I felt I had to buy becouse I found them quite attractive. Here is the Henry VIII groat. The detail on the scan isn't great. In hand you can actually see all the different strands of his hair.

I bought them about 3 months ago.

Welcome Aidan, Nice website but I would have to agree with the other I felt it has got to many different sections. Therefore it will need many members to keep all the different sections busy, but I wish you all the best.

I think this coin is the larger bust type of sixpence, third issue. With the acorn mintmark, and going off others for sale on the internet I would grade it as VF anyone agree, or disagree?
-
I think I have narrowed it down to being a Laker D bust, and rose mintmark which means it was minted between 1526-44 and looking at other examples on the internet I would grade it as VF does anyone agree, disagree?

I know it is from his second coinage, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me more with perhaps a Spink reference no. plus if you could give me a grade that would be great. Hussulo replied to Bronze & Copper Collector's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Not as of yet..... several knowledgeable collectors and dealers have rsuggested that I contact the Royal Mint. I have emailed them last week, I have return receipt that it was read, but have hod no response of any sort as yet..... I emailed the Royal Mint months ago to ask them about a 1832 die trial farthing I have, but still have not heard from them! Chris also said they took a year to inspect and return a coin he sent in to them. I know we should be greatfull for there free knowledge, but why have a contact email on your website if you aren't going to reply to peoples emails? -
