As this is a new laptop then the drivers should be suitable and do not need to be messed with. Sorry I should have clarified, it's new to me but in fact its second hand. So I guess my first port of call is to try and install the drivers. Thanks guys I'm on it now and I'll let you know how it goes.

My screen resolutions available are: 1366 x 768 1360 x 768 1280 x 768 1280 x 720 1024 x 768 800 x 600 I think I've tried them all including 800 x 600, I lost a lot of the sides (went black) but the coins looked even more elongated! I just bought a Dell Inspiron N5110 it has a very wide screens. My old trusty Dell latitude d620 used to work great. This is the spec of my new laptop: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=6121&review=dell+inspiron+15r+n5110 I am trying to instal all new drivers to see if that helps.

Need some pictures of Sovereigns
Hussulo replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Thanks guys very much appreciated. Azda- wow 500 websites nicking pictures from Tax Free Gold website. I'm VERY surprised to see CGS-UK.biz on that list I personally want to do everything above board. I have had quite a few emails from new collectors and gold investors asking me about Sovereigns, so I thought I would set up a simple site along those lines, I may add more info, varieties etc in the future and it is by no means finished. Its also the first time I have used Wordpress so I am still playing around with it. I'll publish the site details once I've done more work on it. Many thanks once again. Hus -
Need some pictures of Sovereigns
Hussulo replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I have a few pictures of Elizabeth II sovereigns that you can use if they are any use to you? A reduced in size sample is attached. That would be great Nick thanks. Please email the pictures and any description ie name, your coin site, you would like me to put under them. If you want to rename anonymous that is fine to, whatever suits you. Regards, Hus -
it was titled "india bengal presidency pattern pie AH 1228 KM Pn25 high grade" I had a quick look in Krause to verify the claim but couldn't see it and was tired so I went to bed. While at work today the auction was due to finish during my afternoon break. I thought I could use a pattern for sale on my website, liked the look of it but didn't know what it was worth. When I went to bid there was less then a minute left it was at £32 I put a bid of £48 in and I was the top bidder at £46 with a few seconds to go. I left it at that but I went to check if I had won it later, the winning bid was £856.76! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200719380617?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D200719380617%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 I'm sure this has happened to us all at some point, I wonder if the seller was pleased with the result. I still don't know a lot about the coin but perhaps it has found its market value.

Help with value double eagles
Hussulo replied to thehappypixi's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
I'm sorry to say my opinion based on the images would be a fake. Here is a genuine one graded MS66 by PCGS: http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/CoinDetail.aspx?s=9172&redir=t There are a couple of differences. As you say the breast feathers just don't look right, they look too flat and almost engraved. The details are almost too good. The feet on liberty are too well defined. These points wouldn't rule it out, however the biggest give-aways for me are The ray that points too the olive branch isn't close enough on yours. On the picture of a genuine one is almost touching. Also there are too many windows/the windows are too high on the U.S. Capitol building on yours. -
1850 Shilling, date altered?
Hussulo replied to azda's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Again not an expert by any shot on these as I haven't studied them nor have I owned one but looking at your pictures the thing that makes it appear genuine to me is the doubling of the 5. The 8 is doubled and the doubling of the 5 ties in well with it. Would a forger alter the date and include the doubling, I would imagine that would be hard to do and it would have to have been done by someone with plenty of insight. I also can't see any obvious signs of alteration from the picture but it does have toning around the date which makes it harder to tell (not that you should clean the coin by any means). -
Thanks Gollum, I've now done so. I've deleted everything and changed my passwords. I'll ask all members to change their passwords when its up and running again. I am working on a fresh instal now.

Yeah, OK, I'm only boasting really but ..
Hussulo replied to TomGoodheart's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Congrats to her Tom. I'm sure you and your wife are very proud. I hope one day Sophia decides to go to Uni and sticks in at school. If I had applied for any of these big name Uni's my application would have been filled in the bin, probably after giving everyone that read it a good laugh first. I kind of wished that I had tried harder at school, but having said that I don't know if achieving higher grades would have helped me much in my previous and current career choices. The only thing I regret is not having and end game focus at school, I take my hat of to all those people that know what occupation or job they would like to do and study and achieve the grades required to go for it. I never really knew what I wanted to do at school. My dream job would have been sea salvage/ wreck diver or underwater archaeology but it was probably always going to be pie in the sky stuff. -

1921 Penny, unusual 2 in date
Hussulo posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I was looking through quite a few pennies for a friend at work and pulling out KN, H mintmarks as well as the scarcer dates, although most are only in fine condition and I came across this 1921 penny Has anyone seen another like it? It looks to be a chip or a die cud on the 2. Although not as exciting as an over date or a letter struck over another one, I thought it was interesting. -

Nothing new, the US have had an interest in British Coins since ….
Hussulo replied to petitioncrown's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Great coin Jeff. I have an interest in US coins as well, so I am a member of both the BNS and ANA. I believe what Peter said "It is of no surprise that US interest was strong at the start of the 20C as they had little more than 100 years of their own coinage." Does have a lot of truth to it. Also a lot of the US coins were based on UK and French designs so you could see the appeal of British coins to the US collector. If you look at the US designs especially from the late 18th and early 19th century they are quite basic compared to what European mints were producing, but perhaps that is why I quite like them. The only down side is the price of nice condition early US coins makes them hard to collect for most including myself. This is one of the reasons why I tended to focus more on Colonial US coins in the past. -
Please don't finger your coins (no its not a title for a blue movie ) or if you really must, wear gloves at least: http://www.ebay.com/sch/numinerva/m.html?_trkparms=65%253A1%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1&rt=nc&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=1

18rgp stands for 18 carat rolled gold plated. If the gold isn't real the chances are the diamonds aren't either. As for the coin. It doesn't look like a standard Victoria bust on a coin but clearer pictures would help.

double sided pennies.
Hussulo replied to ski's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
As British coins go, I have seen two genuine QEII shillings struck by two reverse die's. Such coins would be considered a trial coin but they are rare. I have seen and own many fake or magician coins. I did once own a Thai Baht struck with 2 obv. dies and a Euro one cent trial struck with two obverse dies. -
Anyone see anything wrong with this?
Hussulo replied to azda's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I agree, it could be the saturation or the colour of your pictures but it looks too white, almost like it has been dipped too many times. -
