Just curiousity value?

Filled die? Odd how both zeroes are filled. Edit: Course it's not a filled die, the blobs are relief. Probably a chip or something out of the die. -

I emailed CC a while ago and they said that they have no plans to make another in the near future, presumably because of all the work it entails. -

George III 1787 SHILLING

I have looked in the Spink catalogue and it says that this coin is and I quote: -
By weight there is about £225 of gold in that coin, at melt value. I don't know what numismatic value it has, but there will be a premium on top of that. You could sell it to a dealer, who would pay between 60% and 70% market value for it.

To the people who have been before, what's the kind of ballpark figure you spend? Do you spend more than you plan? Is there lots to choose from? I realise it varies event to event at Coinex, but on average. -
Cheap hammered?
Emperor Oli replied to Emperor Oli's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
My bank interest has just been paid. Time for some coins methinks! I'll get that Henry III this weekend, and have a browse other places. -
Is there a hammered coin that I could get in a relatively high grade for less than say £40? I feel I need one in my collection. I'd like something fairly early (pre-1400ish). Any suggestions?

I'd imagine it's a bit of shameless self-promotion, as he's selling it.

No, but I can only cover travel expenses for the pair of you. Oh I wasn't implying you pay for it, heavens no. I was just stating that it's an excellent price! -

Just done a bit of research. For the fair in November (not September as I thought), to stay at the Holiday Inn where it's held is only £94 for two nights for two people. You can't get better located than that! -

I wouldn't want to go for just a few hours because it's four hours there, four hours back. I think I'll try to get down for a long weekend whenever the next one is - Septemberish I think? Maybe fly down too. -

1) How many king Richards have we had? 3. 2) How many Queen's have been called Mary? 2. 3) How many king William's have there been in Scotland? No idea. 4) If Prince William changed his reigning name to James he would be James the how many of Scotland? (Could be tricky this one) I think James III of England and VII of Scotland? Unless James II was James VII of Scotland in which case William would be James III & IX. 5) How many king Edwards have we had? 8. -

I found this on Andy's site - what do we think for £30? It is Henry III rather than Edward I but I thought the portrait was rather good. -
General Elections

I disagree. However, I do think our poltical system started its steady decline when it was decided to pay politicians. -
I like that South American coin. I think that some of the coins from S. America are some of the most beautiful in the World. Edit: The S. American sides of the coin obviously

We don't live in true democracies now. That said, even if we did have truly free speech, people would still be held accountable to their words; there would be ramifications to what they said. A person cannot say something utterly vile with there being no consequences. In theory, there would be free speech, but in practise, it wouldn't really exist.

I expected this to be some kind of parody of scare-mongering by the likes of Veritas or the BNP. A quick scout of various agencies shows up no articles which match what you purport happened. Something like this would have been front page material, no?

From that picture, I'd say the top-left, right and middle-right have been cleaned. You can see deep hairlines (if that's not a contradiction in terms) all over them. I'd hazard a guess and say the top-middle is cleaned also. And the reverse of that 1821 looks like it's seen some abrasion. Steer clear I say, unless you plan to melt them down or use them as pocket pieces.
