My allegiance is with the precious metals -
I found pictures to go with my pathetic descriptions a while ago. They're in my Coinpeople album.

Ah Birmingham, the armpit of England. I do hope we have no Brummies here Manchester would be ideal - a large city with a railway hub. You have the trouble of the venue then, but I suppose the MEN would be alright. -

Come on Manchester Coin Fair 2005! We certainly need one up North in a major city like Manchester. For the fare to London I could buy some nice coins! -

My jaw dropped when I saw number seven. Those things are superb, and it's a shame I can't collect copper anymore! Please post a scan or a picture, I'm dying to see it! Thanks for enquiring about the 6d, their answers were as I suspected they might be -

I like the £2 myself, I'm not a fan of the bridges. And I think the site did reject it! -
I have 1000 x CCGB2005!

My copy arrived today and it is far superior to what I was expecting! I suppose I didn't really have any idea of what it would be like because I'd always seen it on Acrobat, but I am extremely impressed with it. I think we all, especially Chris overall, a big round of applause for making Collectors' Coins the best it has even been -
I'd say brass. The trouble with telling people its a fake and asking them to retract their bids is that it appears in their feedback things so I'd say they won't be too happy. They can't do anything to you, but I would end the auction instead.

That's a point...I don't have a Spink yet my Coincraft is just on a bookshelf two metres away. God I'm stupid tonight
-
I was madly googling for one like that but couldn't find one, and it's the one I was thinking of. It does look terribly crude and definitely a fake! Oh, silly me

Isn't there a higher denomination George IV like that? I know the portrait is different to the one like I've put belowe but I was sure there are higher denominations with effigies like that. I'll have a quick search Edit: Looks like I'm barking up the wrong tree but I could've sworn I'd seen that effigy in Spink. Edit 2: Why is this in ancients :S
-
No they can't - if they could they certainly wouldn't bid that much. If it is a fake, and is made of gold, it will have some bullion value. These are all ifs though - if it's a fake, if it's gold. I don't have a Spink to hand, but they sometimes flag certain denominations and years where forgeries exist. Someone more experienced needs to look at it.

The portrait looks fairly kosher but the "S" in Georgius is oddly more flattened than the others. I'd say it was a fake, it doesn't look right.

Mine hasn't arrived yet, I'm getting so envious . Tomorrow, or the postman gets it. -
I do, it helps when sorting new posts.

I've just done it - go into "My Controls" click "Board Settings" on the baar on the left, then uncheck the box that says "Is daylight savings time in effect?". That should do the trick

I've heard about the grading companies not grading cleaned coins, but I thought couldn't they just put somewhere on thre barcode bit that it has been cleaned?

I saw that ages ago, as I do an "1826" search almost daily to turn up any sixpences, half crowns or crowns. I had considered buying it when I just saw the obverse, with a view to upgrading. However, when I turned to the reverse, It was too worn for what I wanted so I think I'll pass - thanks anyway! Edit: This is in my watch pile. Looks a lot better than GVF to me, but the reverse 11 o'clock edge knock is bothering. I may bid if "the price is right". The tone is rather yummy but is it natural? Also, the reverse seems to have a turquoisey tinge...

BU can have minor imperfections on the coin, whereas fleur de coin has to be absolutely perfect with no fingerprints or scratches. So brilliant uncirculated is inferior to FDC.

I'll have any, just as long as it's signed by you, Chris -
What rubbish! Although predominantly pursued by men, if you brose other forums you will see quite a significant minority of women collectors. Oh, and I also hate football and equally beer.
