It's nothing to do with "trusting" eBay - it's the sellers in whom you must place your trust. They have given high definition photographs and you should grade the coin yourself, and only use the grade they give as a guide. Also, there is no reason not to trust a person with so high a feedback rating. I know nothing on Roman coins, so I don't even know if EF can be applied, but it looks in stunning condition. Also, it looks like it was previously gilded, as there are hints of gold around the obverse edge beading, between 9 and 12 o'clock. The figure on the reverse also has a gold haze around the edges. Buy it if you like it!

I wouldn't go up to 1970. When I used to collect farthings, I started at 1956 and they just held nothing for me - I should have started at George V. Perhaps it was the uber-lustre or the wrens on them, I don't know, but they just didn't appeal.

The current record for a gold penny is £149,500 for a Henry III piece. British record for a coin is £170,000 for a George III crown.

Correct - the Queen wanted emblems of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales on her Coronation dress. She chose Rose, Thistle, Shamrock but uh-oh, a leek doesn't really fit in with those pretty flowers, so they chose the daffodil instead.

That's in super condition under the staining, but it will devalue it significantly. I suppose it could be removed with a cleaner of some type, but that would probably upset the tone of the coin.

Silver hallmarks call the marks "Lion rampant/guardant" (I think) for English silver, so the lions/leopards are probably lions. JMD, the national Welsh plant is the leek.
