that is not really the spam that this site is currently recieving... Yes, I was just using it as an example.

    If you were a millionaire......

I will "own up" but you answered this yourself earlier. Both MJMD and I understood to mean one doesn't understand or is perplexed by something. How observant, but it is "If you were a millionaire". As I said earlier, even if you were a millionaire, you still wouldn't be able to have the Museum collections legally.

    If you were a millionaire......

Nitpicking is picking out inconsequential things in certain arguments etc. What you said was fundamentally wrong therefore it was not nitpicking. When I disagree with you, try and defeat it properly instead of resorting to nitpicking please, it makes for much more lively debate.

    Going to Euro...

Hmm our system exactly like erm the Euro, Dollar, Swiss France, Russian Ruble?

    Going to Euro...

I was going to say what Geoff said but I too thought I would get hissed and booed! I hope that we won't join the Euro, for more economic than numismatic reasons. We have to pass the Chancellor's much-fabled "Five-tests" first.

hehe ok Hypothetic \Hy`po*thet"ic\, Hypothetical \Hy`po*thet"ic*al\, a. [L. hypotheticus, Gr. ?: cf. F. hypoth['e]tique.] Characterized by, or of the nature of, an hypothesis; conditional; assumed without proof, for the purpose of reasoning and deducing proof, or of accounting for some fact or phenomenon.

    If you were a millionaire......

If you were a millionaire you still wouldn't be able to have the collection so my point still stands. If you said "Hypoythetically, what coins would you like?" then yes, you would be right, but you didn't.
  10. I voted 50p because Britannia on the reverse harks back to the days of yore. Plus, we occasionally get some quite remarkable ones, like the NHS anniversary. If they only put that much effort into the hospitals, we might be getting somewhere! That's not a very good picture, one can only just make out the hands but still very nice! Nice page here, plus some other nice designs.

    If you were a millionaire......

You couldn't buy the Museum collections as they belong to the nation.

  13. I think we need to see a picture of Chris; for too long now, I keep thinking that Dee Snider is Chris - this must be stopped, so, a request for you piccie Chris!

Do you think it is worth it?

I noticed that but he's probably taken it into account.

    Paranoia setting in!

I'll put some silica gel in with them, that should soak up any moisture!

    Paranoia setting in!

Hi all As you know, i'm collecting brass farthings but recently i've been quite worried about humidity and verdi gris. Does anyone know an ideal humidity to store them at? My attention has been drawn to this because I spotted a speck of verdi gris on one of my Victoria farthings (not part of the whole set i'm collecting).

    Was this a good buy?

As far as I know, there are no other varieties for QEII. There are, however, varieties for KGV and KEVIII. There are two varieties for George. The first, Obverse 1 has the "TT" in "BRITT" on the obverse close together. Obverse 2 has them, obviously, wider apart. The Edward ones are the 1902 specimens which are identified by the quality of the striking. Type A, the one commonly held to be first minted, has a weakly struck area on the breastplate of Britannia on the reverse, with little or no detail. These only crop up in the higher grades however. Type B is the common issue. And of course there are the different tides on KEVII: Low Tide : 1903 High Tide : 1902, 1904-10

Well apparently there arew six varieties listed in Collector's Coins 2004. If someone could scan the page (and host it on another site to save bandwidth!) then we will see if MJMD's is a variety. If not, the combos I listed above make yours quite rare I think.

    Was this a good buy?

Hmmm that is an oddity. If one looks at the pictures in Spink a bit closer, the reverse does actually match yours and it classes it as beading, not toothing.
  20. Emperor Oli

    Was this a good buy?

Just post some scans and then we will know because from those blurry pics, it looked like beading anyway
  21. Emperor Oli

Do you think it is worth it?

    Why do you think that?
  22. Emperor Oli

Do you think it is worth it?

...but would you prefer one which had graced the Nicholson cabinet, admittedly a lesser specimen, or a BU one which hadn't?
  23. Emperor Oli

Do you think it is worth it?

Certainly buy it PM! It has an excellent pedigree
  24. Emperor Oli

Do you think it is worth it?

The 1935 one. It's not that it's just BU, 1935 is quite a rare year
  25. Emperor Oli

    Was this a good buy?

MJMD, unless you have some rare misstrike, you are wrong. They have only beaded reverses. Lol, no. I've just started to specialise in Farthings and am hoping (probably in vain!) to spot some new varieties so i've just brushed up on the existing ones.
