Whoa ho you've opened a real can of worms here! Most numismatists (us) agree that it is a vile coin as one will ever see. How much did you buy it for btw? It isn't worth anything at all, unless in mint condition, where then it is only worth a couple of pounds. A man welded one to his bike the other day, theres some pics in another topic.

was this worth it part 2?

As long as they aren't actively purporting to be something which they're not, it's ok. The coins my Dad got me obviously weren't trying to deceive as they only cost a couple of quid. -

What do you hate about American grading? The fact that it's American? It is extremely accurate and would be more logical to grade the American way for the sake of clarity. Having a numbered system allows one to grade really well. -

Aargh these grades mean absolutely NOTHING! Stick to standardised grading, and don't make them up, they're just confusing. If you want to be really accurate, switch to the American grading system. -
Do a google.com search on British coins!
Emperor Oli replied to Chris Perkins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Totally turns the search on its head, doesn't it! Here's another, do "I'm feeling lucky" with "anti-war peace protesters" -

Erm no, those grades don't exist. Sylvester explained in another thread BVF would be GVF (Good VF) or AEF (About EF) I think -

Old, but still relevant I'm surprised google hasn't fixed it! Another one is "French milirat victories" Edit: God that's a bad typo, it's "French military victories" -

Well done, Chris, clever manipulation! On another note, do google "Weapons of mass destruction" and click "I'm Feeling Lucky" -

No way. Proofs have mirror-like fields, these didn't. Plus I don't think my father would fork out the necessary money to buy them! -
I hope Coincraft release another edition of their book because I would buy it to go hand-in-hand with Spink's. Coin Yearbook lists its (oft-wrong) prices by denomination too.

As you know, I'm trying to complete a full 20th century (EVII-EII) date set (minus the obvious ones) in brilliant uncirculated condition. After that, I will continue to move back in time and buy older farthings. I voted other, as although my collection has a direction now, it is all a mishmash of different coins. -
was this worth it part 2?

Right. My dad once bought me something like that in a frame, specifically to hang on a wall. I thought the coins looked odd, as the shine on them was off, and not as-struck as the frame said. So I smashed it up and lo and behold, the coins didn't have milled edges - they were very good copies! -
No, by going to University (LSE), I hope to become a stockbroker or investment banker with Goldman Sachs.

What area do you actually focus on MJMD? Cos you seem to buy late bronze and then forties coins - are you trying to complete a particular set or what? -
Save it and buy nice things. Edward VIII and Cromwellian coins are such a lot and only the ones who can afford them should buy them. Just pick an area you like and spend it on the best examples of that (not all, though!)

I've got a lovely 1838 Maundy threepence in uncirculated condition. It really is quite beautiful and intricate! -

Yes muchas gracias, William. Was it a big bit or was it just tucked away in a corner? -
They could have at least had some nice headshots taken to give it a more professional look but 35mm doesn't seem to cut it with them.

I have a Kennedy 1/2 Dollar, 1967 I think. I got it from my grandparents, along with a casino chip from Monte Carlo and a Morgan Dollar.

Yes, my Dad's good friends with a guy who has acres of land down South and I attempted to drive it and did about a mile (kinda stop start but mostly smoothly ) but then the owner got scared and politely asked if I ould like him to finish off!
