  1. As it's a rare error, of course £350 is right.

No, slabbing wouldn't get that kind of toning. I've contemplated slabbing my better coins but decided against it, purely because of cost.

    Was this a good buy?

Try scanning, these coins sound excellent if the coins are the way you described them!
  4. I'm not saying it's a bad coin, as implied by your post, I'm simply saying I could think of a better way to spend £300+!
  5. The guy seems to know ewhat he's talking about plus it isn't recorded in any of my books. It's far too much for a George VI crown though imho!

The Queen Anne one is quite nice (the one with least rainbow!) and that toning brings it out perfectly however once the rainbow effect comes in it's revolting

there is no lustre on that coin. Its worn too so even if it had lustre it wouldn't be worth much

Quite frankly, my dear Sylvester, I am. I've been arguing all day, it doesn't make sense to stop now!

    Debating

Oh I love mass debating but I love having a good old MACE debate more (2 vs. 2)!

They are vulgar! Rainbow toning like that isn't natural, as Sylvester said, they don't store them right. We Brits would probably get "wonderful" toning like that if we stored them the way they do, but we have sense so we don't!

Can you attach a picture of the 1806 lustrous farthing, as I'd really love to see it?
  12. Hmm the legend looks clear, I think it's just a normal strike which has been in circulation or been thrown about a bit!

    Was this a good buy?

I thought you didn't collect stuff like that?!
  14. Emperor Oli

    Has't this been cleaned?

I don't think Sylvester's buying it for collector value though, more as eye candy

Yes, it's not necessary to state what everybody knows or doesn't know grrr

Spamming. The rules lie in tatters now...

    New 2 Pence

Eugh, those rainbow coins are awful. Why are they all American?!
  18. Emperor Oli

    Has't this been cleaned?

It's so bright it could almost be a re-strike! Very pleasing to the eye although its collector value is somewhat limited

It's the hybrid son of traditional squiggle who has both loop and flick!

There will be books on how to write it but the point of it is speed - having a dictionary would hamper it.

No, you couldn't. The people who actually write this studied it at schools for years.

I bet the death rate is high among bus spotters - being run down all the time and all
