Sorry, I'm not au fait with many train stations! I've just seen the exterior of Picadilly and it looks nasty but I suppose if it's frequented by the likes of you then it can't be all bad!

Small world, eh! Why is he called footandankle btw?

Unless he's called footandankle (which I doubt!) he hasn't got it unfortunately

Eww Manchester Picadilly?!? The most revolting station in existence - next time get off/on at Victoria, it's much nicer!
  5. The George III Half penny portraits are different from all the others in that the forehead is flatter than the others. This could be the deformity you speak of. However, the legend is incorrect for any coin of George III so it is indeed a forgery. As for when and where I don't know - I'm sure the "Experts" will!

    French coins...value?

Oh yes, I didn't even notice those! I think Master JMD is new to collecting though and doesn't understand thoroughly the complexities of grading - it takes lots of practice and trial and error methinks. Although EF is way off mark for something of that quality

I know another word begining with E

Care to name any? By "leading" do you mean the likes of Slaney?
  8. We'd need dates, grades and types. Pictures would be nice

That's magnificent and a bargain at the price!

    French coins...value?

The reverses are ok, it's just the obverses. The one coin I was wondering about was the top left one. It doesn't look fine in my eyes, it looks rather fair, if not poor but that's my harsh judgement

    The situation in Iraq...

Oooh a real hypothetical Catch-22 here! If on the one hand I say oh no my family comes first, then you will ravage my earlier post about the "greater good". However if I say no, they must die for the preservation of the regime, then you would most probably call me a heartless b*%#>rd. And no sane person in my family would ever visit Iraq in its current state

    French coins...value?

It's obverSe and reverSe and NapoLEon. Also, your grading seems way off for some of them, especially the top left one but maybe it's just the pictures.

I got a magazine through from either the company you love-to-hate, Westminster or the Mint selling Chinese porcelain from a shipwreck. on second thought it sounds more Westminsterish than the Mint They werre selling saucers and cups and little figurines for hundreds of pounds. Absolute rubbish......
  14. As you may see in my earlier post, I have a mild distaste for the new issues; What do you think?

    The situation in Iraq...

The BBC did an excellent Q&A on it And I don't think the Japanese should withdraw their troops. To sacrifice a few people to save many is cold logic imho

    The situation in Iraq...

Screw Iraq, we've got bigger problems here in the U.K, namely asylum. After the Hughes fiasco, this Government really needs to overhaul the asylum application and processing procedure

    Very interesting Chris

    The most detailed enquiry?

Hmm I'm just not seeing Britannia, the epitomy of Britain sitting on a stool - maybe it's just me!

    Discount for forum members.

Look, Chris gave you an example of a discount previously. I don't think it's a fixed percentage, I think it's what he can afford to do whilst leaving a profit

Hmm I found that on MSN Learning and Research and it's exactly the same - can Microsoft be cheating? Never

Oh no Planck wasn't a biologist - he was a physicist. Planck was born in Kiel on April 23th 1858, and educated at the universities of Munich and Berlin. In 1900 Planck postulated that energy is radiated in small, discrete units, which he called quanta. Developing his quantum theory further, he discovered a universal constant of nature, which is known as Planck's constant. His discoveries did not, however, supersede the theory that radiation from light or matter is emitted in waves. Physicists now believe that electromagnetic radiation combines the properties of both waves and particles. Planck's discoveries, which were later tested and confirmedby other scientists, were the basis of an entirely new field of physics, known as quantum mechanics, and provided a foundation for research in such fields as atomic energy. Planck received the 1918 Nobel Prize in physics. In 1930, he was elected president of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society for the Advancement of Science, which was later renamed the Max Planck Society. He openly critiscised the Nazi regime and was forced out of the society, but became president again after World War II. He died at Gottingen on October 4th, 1947.

    The most detailed enquiry?

The E VII florin shows Britannia standing, not sitting so it couldn't have been that anyway

    best way to start collecting...

Very interesting but I think points 3, 4 and 5 are basically the same.
