Edward VII Coronation coin.......1911?!
Emperor Oli posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Ive had this oddity knocking around for a while but never figured out what it was. Any help would be appreciated but I can't see why it says "Coronation Coin" on the obverse and the date as "1911" on the reverse. I'm fiddling with pics I'll put some up in a minute -
Coins stolen at COINEX
Emperor Oli replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Could merchandise like this even be shifted? Granted they could melt them down but there can't be much money in that and bringing them back to market would be suicide. Unless they're stolen to order of course, they do seem quite specific. -
Beautiful. I'm sure if Wyon were alive today he would be doing exactly this.

Congrats, Hussulo!

Hi all, picked up my A-level results today and I got: Economics - A Politics - A Maths - A General Studies - A And a distinction in the advanced extension award for Economics. All in all a good day! So this means I'm off to Durham at the end of September to study Economics & Politics. Anyone know any good coin shops?!
-
Out of service when I visited, doesn't look like it will be for long.
-
Thanks everyone! Just got my pack of stuff through from Durham and the number of forms to fill in is quite amazing - why don't they do it over the internet? Can't wait to go, I'm really geared up for it.

The experts of course!

You're catering to the market. -
New RM issue
Emperor Oli replied to Emperor Oli's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I think they lost it long ago! The Britannia series and a few of the £2s are the notable exceptions. -
New RM issue
Emperor Oli replied to Emperor Oli's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
My sarcasm was a bit too subtle! This woman already has one coin in her memory, why she needs another is beyond me. Plus the execution (seemingly like all modern RM issues) is below par. -
That is beautiful. Really nice colour, is it like that in the flesh?

New modern error coin report
Emperor Oli replied to Chris Perkins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Pretty big mistake there! Did you know it existed or was it a fluke? I just cashed in lots of commemorative £2s at the bank...every time I received one in change I put it away in a box. Edit: Just checked one that was leftover and it had the correct lettering. -
Just mirrored it in Photoshop. See if this helps!

Firefox can still open pdfs.

"MS70" £2 at $1095. Any takers? Guess not. How about this "MS69" £2? That's only $89!

When you read stories about dealers in America ripping people off it sometimes makes me wonder.

2007 Sovereign recut reverse dies
Emperor Oli replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Whoa I didn't see this topic so I started another! I'll attempt to merge them but that will probably end in disaster. Edit: Success! -
2007 Sovereign recut reverse dies
Emperor Oli replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Yep, that's the proof version (you don't want to see the circ strike!). -
2007 Sovereign recut reverse dies
Emperor Oli replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
No, proofs aren't generally found in circulation. Even if it was worn, the coin would still be a proof if it could be identified as such. It would be rare to find a proof in circulation, rarer too a proof sovereign! -
2007 Sovereign recut reverse dies
Emperor Oli replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Cross-posted from another site, it seems the Mint is recutting the reverse for the 2007 sovereigns. I think they messed up on this. Boatloads of detail especially in George's and the horse's muscles has been lost and the relief is so low as to be almost flat. -

That is a bonus. I've seen some forums where you have to register just to read the posts.
