I'm pretty certain I've only ever been 'given' things by Clive? But that's OK!

Totally agree with you, Sir!Whilst I've rarely bought from dealers, mostly on account of trying to buy a coin for a bargain, rather than at its present market value, I have to say, and it does no harm at all to say this, I've always been extremely impressed with John (where is he) and Rob! Both have been reliable in description and grade. Also, whilst I've only bought ultra modern stuff from Chris (forum), that too has been absolutely faultless! Another chap who has sold me a fair few coins over time, and has an ultra-honest heart on his sleeve, is Declan! I feel safe to say I'd happily cough-up myself if you couldn't get a real deal, or send a coin back, to any of the four I've mentioned!

Really? I think their coins are often way over-graded. Not as good as they used to be.I wouldn't be so bold, Hugo, but, I have to say, PWA's comment has surprised me.

There are so many suspicious looking, but unconfirmed, hammereds out there, that I wish I could afford to win them all and investigate them in hand, and by scale, and by acid, and by god! By god I do!

If genuine a lot of money for a horrible, Woolley-looking, lack-lustre, coin.If a forgery, which it looks to be ( the reason I wanted it), and I would've paid a 'genuine' price for it (but it soared above that), then someone's got a useless piece of unattractive old rubbish.

1697 Halfpenny, BRITA NIA
Coinery replied to scott's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Different reverse dies, definitely! Are there any images of a confirmed BRITA NIA available? That would be useful for further comparison. -
You're a gent, Paulus!

Oh, please, give me a break...I was watching this as a possible purchase for myself, as it looks highly suspicious, particularly when looking at the obverse and obverse edge. All of £60 with postage? C'mon, WTF is going on out there? 301337754998

Late George V Halfcrowns - A Daft Question

I'd never noticed before, I have to say. Another point of general interest, why don't we ever see daffodils representing the Welsh contingent? -
That's rubbish! He used to dip it in mead and dangle it over Henrietta's chest during court parties...the fairest skin in all the land!
-
Would hardly call that worn, Scott? Nice coin!

I'm all over the place at the moment, Peter, hardly know my stern from my bows! Must try harder!

Oh, sorry, JM, I just saw the title and leapt! Oooops, I'll get my coat!

There's a whole load of new posts just uploaded on my phone that are days old...could be my reception?Anyway, that's got to be a normal inverted 1 over 1, surely?

Any chance you could try and resend that E1 image of your's, it never came through, and I'd very much appreciate a copy of it?

I doubt if mine is as long as your's, Peter? Thanks, Gents & Lady! -

Ah, the wonders of Facebook, TG! Thanks for the build-up everyone, my birthday's today (23rd)! Happy belated Birthday, Declan, enjoy the jump! I prefer flying planes to jumping out of them. I forgot whose quote it was: "why anyone would want to jump out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft is beyond me"! -
I understand your anxiety, OJ, I've been there myself! Get a bag of old coins and have a play with these things, resolve it for yourself...no amount of words will convince you otherwise, you know that!
-
Oh, hell, I love them all, how can you ever decide on aesthetics alone, they're all diamonds? It all comes down to budget, otherwise we'd have them all, an entire museum of the bloody things!

You just don't see these little fellas looking quite as balanced as this, the grade's irrelevant with that kind of eye-appeal IMHO!
