  1. Saxby's is forever listing the humble E1 penny and Threehalfpence as the rarer and more expensive threefarthings! The seller is a numismatic joke! Unbelievable fraudster OR genuine simpleton, take your pick!
  2. Just taken a look at Chris' image of the Churchill! The problem with the overall design ( from the point of view of finding a mint circulation example) is Churchill only has to rub a surface for 20 seconds to show significant marks, such is the flatness of the design. Another shocking thought occurs, and that is this is a 50 year old coin next year!
  3. Hah, yes, indeed! But I can 'just about' make the excuse that I'm simply collecting the Elizabeth coinage, at least until I can start properly lashing out on a top-end E1 collection that I can keep!I've done the ground work on E1 but, in the mean time, I'm just keeping myself interested with a bit 'o' Liz! Incidentally, it's this little E2 foray that has had me note the Churchill Crown is not so 'top-collector-grade' common as we'd all like to think it is! All good fun!
  4. Join the que. I don't think they even left the mlnt like that. The nearest you will get is a VIP proof. This is what I was thinking, Gary, even the most commonly coin has its rarity! I'd seriously like a quality one, though, if anyone has such a thing?
  5. Just as an aside, what did CGS value it at?
  6. I think it's a radical coin too! Anyone got an unblemished BU out there? No rim nicks, or digs, nice lustre? I want one, please!
  7. The grammar and spelling says polished and S. plated circulation copper to me! Anyone that knows enough to "rite" scarce silver proof in their description, should also know that appalling grammar and a small feedback is not the place to roll such a piece out! Tosh!
  8. Sell it to your dealer for £30! I can find him plenty of others if he's happy to pay that?
  9. So, there you have it...a piece of £20 silver delivered for £117...bargain!Paulus' link (thanks, by the way!) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151310748742?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D151310748742%26_rdc%3D1
  10. Starting to wish this was a Members Only section... Good job it wasn't you, then! You're all miles off the mark!
  11. Just had a pleasant email! Well done, Sir!
  12. I got around £30 for mine http://www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/7161-interesting-elizabeth-i-fake-shilling/?fromsearch=1Sold as a job lot of 3, including the H8 and E1 fake groats! So, basically a tenner each! Grrr! Edit: Looking back, it would be worth contact such sellers with a photo of an equivalent coin, and say I'd like a £100 for it! They might get their fingers burnt with greed, as I'd be surprised to see them achieve the same price twice!
  13. LOL I've replied to the last post in a thread before this ... only to then find out it was only the last post on that page and my reply makes no sense half a page on! An easy mistake ...Also, for whatever reason, when I responded to Peck's reply, it was actually the last post showing on my refreshed page! All the other posts somehow dropped in between mine and Peck's posts...who knows what's going on, I've experienced it a lot of times? The only solution would be to multi-quote on every occasion but, for an off the cuff remark like mine, it didn't seem worth quoting half a page of text just to add it? If you know what I mean? Edit: just fully understood your post, TG...yes, I do that all the time too!
  14. What?Difficult to write phonetically, but I meant (translates as...) 'doh, typical, phhh, just like you, Peck...laugh, laugh!'If you know what I mean? Edit: just realised a whole pile of posts occurred since I posted the Peeeck thang! Weird how that happens...you respond to a post, not wanting to jam up a page with multi-quotes, and look what happens?
  15. Peeeeeck!
  16. Charge an extra £100 or not? Hmmmm! To hear people talk, you would think their only interest in numismatics was purely financial! Provenance unnecessarily lost, I totally agree!
  17. I think what Stuart is talking about is the 56 bids and £112 price Tag for a £30 coin. A clear example of shill biddingNo, looks to be a straight coin, Paul, on this occasion and, yes, spot on, Dave!
  18. C'mon, please! 151310748742
  19. It's clearly a larger leaf/acorn design, putting the leaves right up against the legend and date! Good major variety find, Dave! ;
  20. Hilarious! Had the presence of mind to determine denomination, monarch, and approximate starting bid, but is conveniently absent minded about the chronology of arguably the most famous king of England!
  21. I'm just so flipping annoyed at my most recently delivered package 371060410977 (link to seller please!)! It cost .99p (plus £1.25 2nd class 'letter' postage) for two variety 1967 half pennies...OK, so one could argue 'what do you expect'? But for me, this was a seller who knew enough about coins to list the varieties, yet was casual/uncaring enough to post them clanging together through our postal system in a shared plastic wallet...they were clanging like church bells, even picking them up from the post office! Why, just because they cost .99p should the seller pack them without care? I don't want bag marks on my coins, at least not addition ones from slopping packing! If they were £1k per piece that wouldn't happen (I hope)? I put a lot of time and effort into selecting pieces that look half decent, I really don't want to trust in god that they arrive as I saw them in the images, just because I didn't spend £50 on them! I could properly swear about this one...I'm furious!
  22. Whooooo, hoooooo!
  23. What's the plan with this lot, Paulus, eBay?
