  1. no certainly not....as i said, pics dont reveal the finish. I think that CGS should try harder with their photography. In most cases their photographs don't allow the viewer to verify the grade or the variety, which given the nature of their business is a bit of a faux pas. Couldn't agree more!
  2. looks a real good forgery to me. silver washed wearing away.........seller adamant its original what do you think? ski Not a hope in hell, ski! Where is everyone? Not a hope it's genuine, that is!
  3. Vicky, here are the photos of the '65 in question. Sorry the original photos are too big for posting and hence the small images. (If you want the original images, then log on the cgs website. Type in "20205" in the UIN box. Then you get the images.) It was worth a try I suppose!
  4. forgery? Coohhh, I should say! Will leave it to the expert though!
  5. Stuart, sit down with a nice tipple and let your stress ebb away. No worries regarding my email, there's no rush. Hope you lot recover soon. Does whisky complement LemSip? Thanks, Clive! Yes, whiskey and ANYthing works! Speak soon!
  6. Christmas relaxation? Wife on the 3rd of 4 nights, a 4-year-old with cold, wife also with cold, me with FLU (of course), a dozen emails to sort, coins to pack, plus cooking and shopping to be done! Somewhere at the bottom of that pile of 'relaxation' are my own projects! Notwithstanding, all the above are made doubly difficult within the confines of a caravan, with said wife sleeping, grotty son, AND me with FLU (feels like flue)! I will get that email to you Clive! My apologies! Sat moaning in front the CBeebies and popping an occasional post up with the iPhone is comparatively easy! Using the PC and grey matter is not!
  7. Thanks OS, very much appreciated! Having said that, the first batch haven't arrived yet? Hmmm they are in my sent folder, i sent them to the hotmail address correct? Yes, I've just checked the PM'd address i gave you and it is right, maybe Christmas issues with hotmail too? I know I had to queue for about 20 mins in a rural post office today while all the 'old dears' (and god bless 'em) were posting off bags of Christmas cards to Australia, US, Timbuktu, and the rest of it! Actually made me smile, until I realised I was creeping ever closer to the postie turning up and walking out with the mail bags, whilst I was standing patiently in line with my gooey grandma face on!

  9. I'm so glad she's back!
  10. Cracking coin? Oh, I don't know - folded, yes, but not actually cracking If you look closely it does actually have a crack in it Dealer offered me £100 btw which i actually thought was a fair price so will probably pull it off and sell to him. Result, avoiding eBay fees too! Any chance you could fire me over the high resolution images for cross-reference or use in my groat die study?
  11. Aeroplane blond (she has a black box)
  12. I'd be a bit suspicious of the 565 bidder too: £55.55 £77.77 £111.11 £122.22 He had a 'choice uncirculated' for sale the other day, which was a right bloody laugh! Actually I should put this in Paulus' room 101, because I absolutely hate the word 'choice' being used inappropriately! I really want to be impressed when I see a 'choice' coin!
  13. Good luck Saxon, please let us know what you get for it! I'm guessing £80-£100, good luck Saxon and, yes, let us know, or link us the sale?
  14. That bottom penny is a ringer for the two brassy ones I had! I think they are troublesome from a collection point of view, as they really stand out like sore thumbs!
  15. Let's find out, then! Hope I'm not too late - but that looks like an obvious cast replica. I think you're 99% right, I'll let you know 100% very soon! This would be the first hammered sixpence I've seen, so worth having, if only to mark on my die template, against it's original, that 'crude copies are known to exist of this die'! I will be discussing a partial reimbursement in the likely event of a forgery exposure, or a return with full-reimbursement! After I've got it's vital stats and a nice picture, of course!
  16. Sorry, I didn't get that...what field was that, where did you say you lived?
  17. Elizabeth 6d 281030455548 What do you think, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole? If it stays cheap enough, I will buy it to find out!
  18. For my own part, I'd say your coin doesn't look overdone (though I am viewing on a small screen), and that a certain amount of 'wash' is neccesary with soil finds! What spoils a coin forever though is the use of any kind of abrasive that, in affect, smooths up the higher points of the devices; this never looks natural, even after retoning! Excellent finds, I'd be out every day if I could find just ONE hammered for my effort!
  19. DUMB! 281030094760 (he's got 11 of these finishing if you're interested!) AND DUMBER! 221160192114 Links would be good if anyone's free?
  20. Aye, all finished! Fat nothing, will have to dig deeper than I can manage at the moment!
  21. Unbelievable! The two I was most interested in went for more than 3x estimate! Estimate 5-600, my top bid £1k, hammer price in excess of £1500! Think I'm gonna start collecting Charles shillings, they seem to be about right...some nice coins going at reasonable prices! On the up-side, I know where my upgraded coins are going! I got 3 lots of Chas I, but its a tough auction Nice one, still a couple liz coins to go...nothing exciting, though!
